How to reduce multiple plugin names to just one

Hi,

I noticed I have 4 sets of plugin names somehow in the audio "PlugIn Chooser" screen for each third party VST plugin in Vegas Pro 13. For example, I see "plugin, plugin(2), plugin(3), plugin(4)". Does anyone know how to get this list smaller and back to just the name of the core plugin? I have lots of 3rd party plugins and the screen is a mess.

Thanx, Frederick

Is this just with WAVES VSTs or others?

If you're seeing plugin(2) as well as plugin for WAVES VSTs you could rename any WaveShell-VST XX.dll files in your 32-bit VST folder to stop the 32-bit versions loading as well as the 64-bit versions, but that will also stop the WAVES plugins loading in 32-bit-only programs such as Sound Forge.

Alternatively, if in your Vegas VST Effects preferences you have C:\Program Files\VSTplugins\ set as the Default VST search folder and C:\Program Files (x86)\Vstplugins\ set as the Alternate VST search folder 1, you could copy your 32-bit-only plugins into a sub-folder of C:\Program Files\VSTplugins\ and leave Alternate VST search folder 1 empty in Vegas.

You can also go into Vegas Pro > Preferences > VST Effects and simply untick the duplicate VSTs so they don't show up.

Thanx Nick! I discovered the little checkbox feature and spent 5 minutes unchecking multiple entries, and yes, I have lots of Wave plugins (and had just bought and installed the Izotope RX plugin pack) that seemed to trigger the multiple names.
