I am rendering a film right now, its 25 minutes long and I need it by 9am tomorrow, its currently 11:30am and it says its gonna take 20 hours, so obviosuly this is an issue. It only has two tracksm because I edited the whole thing on premier and only used sony vegas to color correct because its easier on svp for me. How can I speed it up? I use have a macbook air 13" and I am running sony vegas pro 13 on paralells which is stored on a segate 2tb harddrive.

are you rendering to same disk as source files?

Call all your friends and locate a quad core PC or desktop Mac. Don't stop your render until you get another machine lined up. Install your Vegas Pro 13 on the other machine. It would probably be easier to install it natively on a PC than go through the Parallels setup. When you get a working stand-in machine, move your project and data.

If your render is over the 5% point, the time estimate is reasonable if not completely accurate. If you can't find another machine and you're inclined toward spiritualism, you could pray.

Maybe this has since changed, but in the past running Vegas on a Mac using Parallels did not enable any gpu support. This is critical for render speed because you need gpu assist for video decoding and application of effects all of which are gpu assisted. So even though the encoder does not support gpu, gpu assist gives a dramatic render speed increase because the gpu is used during the frame preparation steps after which it uses the cpu to encode the frame. Point being, if you are time constrained and use Vegas, you would be much better off using it on a pc.
