I think there is no way to do side-chaining in Vegas Pro.

hmm... I know how to do it with the Sony Wavehammer effect but it is a weird set-up and thought there must be a simpler way to do it with a nice straightforward plugin like the C1. I can't believe you can't do such a fundamental video type of thing with Vegas. I recall asking Sony to include this type of ability and maybe they just never have.

"Sidechain is supported on Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Nuendo, Cubase, Sonar, Audition, Ableton Live, FL Studio 12, REAPER and Studio One only."   -   http://www.waves.com/support/tech-specs/supported-hosts

There are no products of Magix too - so, perhaps we still long time to wait this and other useful audio functions.

Vegas does not have and has never had side-chain capabities.. despite many requests since V1... (SCS never listened to the users anyway). There are however a few side-chain comps that will work.. I tried out the $80 db 'AudioWare side-chain comp' and the free 'TwistedLemon Sidekick', which worked, but I much prefered manual volume envelopes. Drawing the manual envelopes can be a bit time-consuming though.

Easier way using manual envelopes is to select a whole region before pulling the envelope down, less drawing. Additionally one can choose how long of an envelope fade is needed under preferences--Editing--Time selection envelope fade plus the alignment. Side chaining would be nice though.

There are scripts that make the process much less time-consuming. See this thread: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/how-to-make-the-volume-of-background-music-related-to-narration--103647/
