How to use what has already been done in a new project?

After some updates and upgrades, old projects, completed before, are OK, but one new, created in the middle of the updates/upgrades process, is not rendered. I believe the problem is in the project itself. Just saving it under a new name doesn't help. I think I need to create a new project. How can I transfer into it as much as possible step by step what has already been done in the old one? Old project is Vegas 18, I want the new to be Vegas 21.

1. You can open both projects and use copy>>> past.
2. Also possible to open the old project in Vegas 21 when both versions has the same extra's

Do I need to import media files to the new project? Or just copy and paste events?

Copy and paste events or complete tracks with events

Have you tried just dragging the old Vegas 18 project file to the timeline of a new Vegas 21 project?

No - I was not aware that this works. I will try it first.

If your project is, in fact, corrupt, it may not fix your problem, but, the concept works! It's called "nesting". When you add a .veg file to the timeline of a new project, the resulting video and audio appears as a completed version of the source project as if it was rendered to a lossless intermediate file.

Thanks to respectful community for the answers. First of all - yes you can copy and paste all events from one project to another - it works - but running two instances of Vegas PRO 21 on 32GB memory machine makes the process very slowly. My problem was solved very simple. After my updates/upgrades I just need to start rendering process when HDR in preview window is OFF. Not in every case - but for this particular project - may be also in others. Which, of course, is not a big deal because during rendering in the preview window the video not in HDR mode. Side result is that now I know that on my projects Vegas 21 has rendering performance greater on 15% than Vegas 18.
