So, given the positive vibes I got from hearing about so many SCS people engaging to fix Vegas, I figured, what the heck and downloaded Vegas 11. Thinking I'd take it for a spin. Even paid for the upgrade (I don't think I am going to make that mistake again). So, I did something rather simple. Threw some of my 7D clips on the timeline, added a New Blue title for fun, corrected some color, and thought I'd go check it out on my TV. I have a Sony PS3 hooked up to the TV, so throw the memory stick in the PC, render (using the Sony AVC/AAC encoder) to an MP4 file.

All is quick. All seems to work. Plays fine in VLC (but then again, so would a piece of dirt). Move the memory stick over to the PS3. Copy the MP4 to the PS3 HD. The PS3 makes a nice animated thumbnail. Looking good so far. Click on it. Nothing happens. At all.

Compare this to Premiere Pro. Put stuff on the timeline. Render. Stuff it on a stick. Put in PS3. Plays like a charm. Every time.

This was supposed to be rather simple. Sony Vegas to Sony Playstation => FAIL. Perhaps I was unlucky, perhaps I ran into the only problem that would affect me. I doubt it. I have no plans on continuing to be a paying beta-tester for SCS. I still have hope though. Seems like there are some new brooms over there. They didn't join prior to the 2011 release though.

Vegas 11 is FAR from stable on my system. And I'm running very common, mainstream MB, CPU, RAM, and Vid card, Plus OS (with all drivers updated through at least late Jan)

I've gone back to Vegas 10 and it is much more stable.

If your system is 100% stable, congratulations. I envy you. But please don't discount the problems, excuse me, the very real problems, that I've had with this program.

Vidmus, you need to take in consideration numerous other users who
are having issues.....Its easy to make those comments when all is well
for you.
Im happy with vegas, but there is so much little bugs...i really want them to correct this.

Well I reckon Vidmus' comments are perfectly valid. Reading some of these threads one would think SVP is unusable yet I use it and DVDA all day every day to produce products for paying clients and these include MP4 files, standard def DVDs and BluRay.

I'm using v11 64bit windows latest release.

Here is an example of a modified MP4 template. It is at 1280x720 and at a lower bitrate than max in order not to choke clients midrange computers. And yes it plays fine on my PS3. The PS3 makes a good job of upscaling to 1920 anyway so not much is lost compared to a native 1920.

I would expect there to be a few hurdles with new releases of such complex fully featured software.

Not again... yawn... The old 'my system is 100% perfect' and therefor your PC is faulty nonsense.... How many times does this subject have to be argued about.. Change the record please, this ones got stuck.

And why are SCS currently *FIXING* it?... their days must be real easy.. Its done already. Wow, just sit back.. wish my job was that easy, no bugs, no complaints.. nice, pay me now. hey ho... fiddly dee...

@VidMus.... Sorry sir, but Vegas is not working 100% fine for many people... I have a well-speced system.... yet I get many problems. People's computers are not the issue! At least SCS has acknowledged that Vegas has some issues. Things are changing. Vegas will rise again, stable. :)
