Woke this morning to some crashes. Then saw the SCS homepage. I really hope they have time to squeeze in one more update before the next version but it seems unlikely.
Oh well, struggle through and keep incremental saving.
rs170a - “Unless there's more than they're hinting at, this will be the first version that I pass on :(“
ushere - “so far there's nothing that attracts me, other than the 'promise' of better titling, and that's not something i would spend anything on anyway.....”
srode - “I don't need anything more than 10 provides”
Adam L. - “..There's nothing there that makes me want to rush out and buy it.”
So basically you guys are saying that you don’t offer cutting edge services or want cutting edge features. You are hanging back and just following the leaders after they have blazed the trail. That’s fine, but I’m glad Sony is making an effort for the users who do want to trail blaze. As long as the upgrade price remains similar to previous versions, I’ll be upgrading even for just one useful feature.
There is one thing in that announcement that really attracts me and is well worth the price of upgrade alone.
Take advantage of the power of the GPU for smoother video playback and faster rendering. Vegas Pro leverages the GPU for video FX, transitions, compositing, pan/crop, and track motion. Vegas Pro 11 supports GPU devices from AMD and NVIDIA to accelerate your workflow.
On my current QuadCore, I can't play back HDV at full resolution once I start to color correct. I have an $800 NVIDIA Quadro 4000. If Sony can figure a way to harness the power of that card and get me full frame rates while color correcting, that would be outstanding and should be well worth the upgrade price for anyone with the same problem.
@ pixelstuff - i've spent too much time and money, and lost too much hair bleeding to death on the cutting edge ;-)
i'm all for progress, but not necessarily that generated by a corporate upgrade philosophy rather than 'major' innovative steps.
from what i've read (and to be honest there's very little of any substance in the press release), 11 doesn't seem to offer anything 'major' - perhaps cpu /gpu use might be significant, we don't know yet - but i'm dissapointed that it's taken this long for scs to look at ptt after all the complaints aired about it.
there's every possibility that i might buy 11 just to get the discount (perhaps scs is so dumb with their corporate philosophy ;-)), but as for using it, well please report your finding ASAP - then we'll all have something to get our teeth in to.....
What does the NLE have to do with getting out a top-tier product? Unless the NLE dosent work right, then you have a problem. V8 is rock solid and produces excellent DVD and BD-HD productions from my source materials.
Im still on V8. It it aint broke, dont fix it. I just dont have the time to take chances or learn new work arounds.
I will upgrade to V11 though. Im very slow and 3 versions is enough wait.
