Hi, I am a user of Sony Vegas 13. I have a problem with videos filmed by Sony Alpha 1 camera. The imported video is of the highest quality and shows as green screen in the project. The sound is there though. I have tried the compoundplug g trick, doesnt work. Tell me please which options are there to fix this problem. I need the high quality of my new camera videos be preserved.

Thank you

It may be that the video format is of a modern type (e.g. HEVC / H.265) not then supported by Vegas Pro around 10 years ago when Vegas Pro 13 was released. The best way to find out is for you to use MediaInfo (a free app) to interrogate an example of the media from your new camera and upload a detailed MediaInfo report to this forum thread.

Spend a few per cent of the price of the camera body to upgrade to Vegas Pro 21.

An Aside

I wrote my Economics research project with WordStar but, I haven't used it for at least thirty years.

A1 8K HEVC on Vegas Pro 14*

You can probably work with the UHD AVC files if you convert to Pro Res 444 in Shutter Encoder. But you will be limited to a 3840 x 2160 project for the 8K source.

Vegas Pro 13 reached its end of product life in 2016. No additional format support has been, or will be added.

Sony Alpha 1 was released in 2021, with XAVC-S format support in h264 and h265, up to 8k. Vegas 13 won't do any of that.

It would seem advantageous to try out Vegas Pro 21, which is currently on sale for $149, to go with your $7,000 camera.

Unfortunately times are gone that you got a free license of Sony Vegas with the purchase of a Sony Camera. I got those days a license for Sony Vegas 7 with my Sony HC1. But fortunately prices for Vegas dropped drastically since then...
