8-29-2022: Hello there. I want to report to you that I have discovered a flaw/error in Vegas Pro 20 that needs to be fixed.  I’ve been using Vegas Pro for YEARS and never had this problem except with Vegas Pro 20.  I will explain step-by-step in chronological order what happened. So, to give the proper context, I had to do a video presentation for a “Life Celebration” for a family member who had passed away and pictures of the family were used. This was done on my PC using Windows 10 v. H1H2 (the most current update):   

(1.)  I put on track 1 a nice background that covers the entire 1920 x 1080 screen display.

(2.)  Then I put a picture of a little girl on top of the background on track 2 that is much smaller than the background and the nice background show up on both sides of the picture (picture attached to this writing so you can see it). 

(3.)  When I look at the picture, I notice it has a white frame around it which I don’t want and I want to crop it out.  So, leaving that picture inside of the directory where the picture is located along Vegas Pro 20 in the same directory, I save what I’ve done so far  inside of Vegas Pro 20 and just minimize Vegas Pro 20 to get it out of the way.  Then, I open up Photoshop, drag that same picture into Photoshop and crop out the white edged-frame.  I save that same picture in the same directory as Vegas Pro 20 and it overrides the picture with the new changes I made.  I click quickly onto the Vegas Pro 20 minimized icon and I instantly see the changes done in front of me.  And the white frame around the picture is now gone. Now, so far so good.  That’s what it’s supposed to do.

(4.)  NOW I go to the beginning of the picture starting from the left edge with the play dial and use my arrow keys about 7 spaces in because I NOW want to use the pan/crop option to animate the picture to come closer to me.  I make sure the “sync cursor” is on so the picture will draw closer to me when I get ready to implement this action.  THEN as soon as I use the little square on the lower-left hand corner in the pan crop feature (where the big “F” is located), the moment I push it inward to the picture, the picture literally disappears from the display window!!! But the picture is still on the track with the play dial on top of it!  And I’m thinking, “WHAT?!?!”  And the ONLY thing that is showing is my background on track 1 (see picture attached).  I’ve tested this over and over and it does it every single time in Vegas Pro 20 where it never did this in any of my previous versions of Vegas Pro.  It should NOT do that.  I should be able to complete that task with the animation and when I’m done continue on with my work on the track.  So that is the flaw/error!  The ONLY way to make the picture come back to be in the display window is to shut Vegas Pro 20 down and then bring it back up and THEN the picture is there in the display window!  And from THAT point, I am able to use the Pan Crop feature to continue the animation that I originally wanted.  

In order to clarify what I am talking about, this ONLY HAPPENS when I go to crop a picture in Photoshop, override the original picture with the new changes, and then come back to Vegas Pro 20 while it’s minimized.  If I don’t do any cropping midstream during my project in Vegas Pro 20, then the pan crop works just fine.  It’s only when I crop a picture in the way I described above is when the picture disappears in the display window but it’s literally still there on the track.  As stated before, this has never happened in all the previous versions I have had of Vegas Pro and have ALWAYS been able to do this procedure without any problems.  I had to do a LOT of cropping this way and with Vegas Pro 20 not cooperating at all, it takes the job soooo much longer to do because you have to keep shutting down Vegas Pro 20 and bring it back up again MANY TIMES; I never have to do that with ANY programs I use.   And it should not be this way.  Now, someone may say, “Do all your cropping before you start in Vegas Pro 20.”  I DID.  But as I started doing the project, I would see little areas where I missed and I would have to do some more cropping again and that’s when the problem starts every single time I do it. 

So, that’s it. It needs to be fixed.
