there doesn't seem to be a retail box option, just a downloadable purchase. Call me stingy but I prefer physical media for something that's well over $100.

I looked in the FAQ and didn't see anything on the subject, I also called the support line and after several attempts each one ended with a message saying all lines were busy then I'm disconnected each time...

I would gladly buy the boxed version on amazon, but the upgrade price is way cheaper and the current offer of plugins is very enticing.

I wouldn't say "stingy", but it isn't the way of the software world any more. And that's good - think of all the unnecessary cardboard and plastic saved from polluting the environment.

If this is for a Christmas gift, then maybe make your own package. If it's just for your own feeling of security, then burn a disk with the download.

It's possible there's an option to add a physical DVD (for extra money) during the purchase process. This is just a guess as I haven't done it myself.

You wouldn't want to actually install the version on the DVD as it will be out of date.
