1) yes they are and they look awful.

2) They have been there since VP13. Give it a try, it's actually a bit faster to work with. No, you cant get it back on top, or I dont know how to do it.

3) Not yet..."maybe" they are working on it.

OK, thanks! Guess I'll get used to it.

i make my script icons very colorful, so is very easy to just "spot" them with a quick glance.

the new monochrome icons feel like the kind of change "just to change".

my tip would be always to add an option to select "old one vs. new". changing a thing that has been unchanged for a decade, for no new good reason, will only make some people like it, and some dislike. adding an option you satisfy EVERYONE.

Photoshop for example, a while ago, they launched the new version with the dark-gray interface. i was like F******K, i hate dark interface. but then, there was an option to choose the tone (light grey, etc..) AHHHH,  was so relieved. Damn "trendy" dark interfaces.

After more than four decades of making my living solving problems, I can say with certainty that having a good problem definition makes the problem solving go a lot quicker.

The Vegas 14 icons (on Windows 7 Pro) are not black (000,000,000) and white (255,255,255). Rather, they are "sort of black" (40,43,48) and "sort of gray" (136,136,136). If high contrast was the design goal, the developers fell short of that objective.

+1 malowz on the choice.

It did actually cross my mind to script every single command that I could, just so I could customize my toolbar with a Fisher Price set of icons.

I had a bit of a hunt to see if those "sort of gray" icons are hiding somewhere on our hard drives in a form that could be replaced, but sadly couldn't find them.

err... i just realized i can just edit the internal icons with any resource modifying app...

saved the ones from v13... changed the ones in v14... BAM, all of the v14 icons are now the same as v13 ;D

"hacks detail removed. do not work with registered vegas."

Since I'm running a trial and I fully intend to refresh my original image when this effort is finished, I'll spend some time colorizing my icons...

...tomorrow.

Some inspiration for you John:

A good tip to colorful icons is the "UI Saturation Level" in the internal options. changing to 0.6, 0.7 will result in more colorful icons ;)

NickHope wrote on 9/30/2016, 5:33 AM

I have the same problem. Have just sent feedback to the dev working on it. Will send you an email a bit later.

NickHope wrote on 9/30/2016, 8:04 AM

malowz, the MAGIX devs fixed the issue 👍👍 You should be able to read those messages now.

malowz wrote on 9/30/2016, 11:49 AM

"i've bent told" that vegas complain about the modified EXE if you have a registered version of vegas.

so, most likely you won't be able to change the icons with registered vegas :(

I don't like the monochrome icons.  It actually slows me down haivng to look for a new icon, and especially if it doesn't stand out. I would love the option between old and new.

Hasn't anyone realized the new ICON style is  just a Win10 thing?

Or maybe it started with 8 ... I wouldn't know because I jumped from 7 to 10 ..

I saw this tread a couple days ago and thought, what's the big deal? The "grey" theme is rampant in the DAW world too.

I use Cubase and it has the black and white themed buttons.

So I checked out some screen shots of Sonar, Protools and Premere and they have this color scheme also. Interesting...  (;

Style over usability 👎👎👎

If you're not wearing your baseball cap on back to front then you're not in the crew. I prefer to be out front of the crew.

I recently upgraded CorelDraw (I actually only use Photo-Paint, which only comes bundled with it these days) to get a 64 bit version to avoid out of memory problems and am dismayed that the icons are black and white and poorly constructed. I think it must be part of the Windows 10 style, so blame Microsoft. They must be used to being blamed for the ills of the world.

VidMus wrote on 10/2/2016, 12:26 AM

If they were not so incredibly hard to see, I might not mind if they are black and white. Older eyes and smaller monitors do not work well with black and white icons, at least not in my case. So there really needs to be an option to customize the icons according to needs and desires just like Vegas is very customizable.

The reason it's not is that the  icons on my Vegas Pro 13 were in color and it was runnning on  Win 10.

Yea, Also I don't think it's a Windows 10 thing. Icons are colored in Vegas 12 on my Win 10 PC.
