Import MOCHA Pro DATA Tracking into VP?

Grazie wrote on 8/26/2021, 12:55 AM

I really need a YT Video on this. I’m missing a crucial step that’s not obvious to me in how to link the imported Tracking DATA to an Event asset. I’m thinking, New features need/require a Video. I’ve learnt from BORIS that this New VP19 Feature was developed in-house within the Team-Vegas, this makes sense of course, but now I need a how-to video in just “how” and “to”.

What I’ve achieved thus far is to get Tracking DATA into VP - that’s done. It’s this next step that I don’t get.

Oh yeah! Can MOCHA DATA be used to do a Remove, in VP? That would be awesome ’cos at present VP runs ahead of the Remove Render supplied by BORIS MOCHA PRO.

TIA - Looking for a Grazie-Proof Solution 😀!

@Dexcon - Thank you. Yes I saw that too, but it’s that crucial “link” between the Text and the Boat I’m missing. Also, I believe this was made prior to VP19 New Import Window. So, two things - so far - Using that New interface of Importing DATA with those curious Icons and then this Link between the Text and the Boat.

@VEGASDerek - Please don’t let this New Feature go the way of the ProTypeTitler falling by the wayside?

Thanks @Dexcon! I appreciate that!

And @Grazie, after doing a ton of exporting, the only 4 options of export that work okay are AE CC Power Pin, AE Corner Pin, Boris Corner Pin, Silhouette Corner Pin. They all provide nearly identical results when importing them info V19 but there are still some imperfections.

@ScrapyardFilms Thanks for the info. I got the same results here.

Here in the Mocha Pro OFX Plugin I used the Boris FX BCC Corner Pin option in Export Tracker to export the tracking data created in Mocha and then I used the Import From Mocha option in Motion Tracking in Vegas Pro 19 to import the tracking data from Mocha.

Great Tutorial @ScrapyardFilms! Thanks!

Have you been able to import Shape Data files with extension (.Shape4ae)? I'm not able to import this type of file into Vegas Pro 19 Motion Tracking.

ScrapyardFilms wrote on 8/26/2021, 1:37 PM

Thanks! I am able to do the shape import and i'm fairly successful at getting a decent cutout. Not sure why it would be acting the way in your video though

Instead of going thru all that process, i simply do everything right there in mocha by using the insert module to attach anything, then save and when back in Vegas only thing i need to select is Insert:Composite and done. Far more accurate.

You can even simply copy & apply the same mocha settings to your event on the above track and done.

Do you know about those Regions and Icons?

@Grazie  ... Sorry, but I don't. I've only tried VP19's motion tracking once by following a YT tutorial but couldn't get it to work. The selection used in the tut of adding the track to the 2nd video event didn't even appear in my VP19's motion track window - so I'm confused about it. I'll give it another go in the near future.

BTW, I've just spent a couple of hours using Mocha in BCC Brightness-Contrast on a couple of shots, but for the first time using Mocha's brush tool to highlight a very detailed sculpture of dragon with lots and lots of eccentric edges - much too detailed to manually outline with the spline tool. The brush tool is superb and the result amazing. A lot of time-consuming work for 2 x 3 sec shots though, but worth it IMO.

For one of the shots, here's the original:

... and the result after adding brightness and a smidge of contrast with BCC:

Chalk and cheese.

Location: The Flower Dome, Gardens by the Bay, Singapore - early January 2020.

Point being that CF2 does Masking for me!

Dexcon wrote on 8/27/2021, 7:12 AM

@Grazie  ... Yes, a great improvement - and thank you for testing. I'd some time ago in an earlier edit tried it in CF2 (which is my go-to choice as you know), but in this case I'm much happier with the BCC result particularly since the narration asks, "Could this creature be from "Game of Thrones?" From my pov, the dragon needed to be highlighted a bit more. BTW, the original footage is 4K and feathering in Mocha was 5%, but I expect the edges will soften a bit with an ensuing FHD BD render.

I have often found that using Mocha within BCC Brightness-Contrast is a great way with greatly contrasting images to, with 2 instances of BCC B-C using a common spline track, reduce the highlights (such as through a window) and with the other BCC B-C increase the otherwise under-lit interior image but keeping in mind that the use of the latter needs to be tempered because of the consequent raising in noise.
