Import MOCHA Pro DATA Tracking into VP?

That's nothing important. Both are OK.

@lan-mLMC - Clarity is important to me, and to achieve that I asked the question. So, and if you are replying on behalf of @ScrapyardFilms, he'd say yes - correct?

@Grazie I achieved these results using the Standalone version. I don't own the OFX version but can download a trial and attempt it.

ScrapyardFilms wrote on 8/27/2021, 2:55 PM

Also whenever I import the tracking data, it applied to a region. If I imported multiple tracking data files, multiple regions appear. Maybe you imported mocha data twice and didn't delete the additional region?

@ScrapyardFilms - Thanks for confirming you’re using the Standalone. I’m still waiting to hear from at least one other person using the OFX.

So that we understand each other, what’s a “Region”? How does it relate to MP and VP? And what is these option and Icons for adding “Regions”?

Clarity is everything. 😉.

@joelsonforte.br - I got this “partial” explanation notification from you and then no active Link?

That “Link to Comment” doesn’t work. Do you know why? Anyways, I’m still after the explanation of Regions and what those options are, coming from the MP OFX. Any thoughts?

I think it is easy to get confused between Mocha Pro and Mocha Continuum that is under the Boris Primate free add on that came with Vegas Pro 19. On Josh's video it looks like he is using the full version of Mocha Pro.

The advertising on Magix's website say's:

Integrated Academy Award winning Mocha masking and planar tracking system

Motion tracking

Sophisticated multi-region motion tracking is built directly into VEGAS Pro.

Track objects with changing perspective.

Apply tracking data to text and other objects.

Import tracking data directly from Boris FX Mocha.

Track and obscure faces, licence plates and unwanted objects.

This I have not been able to do, on Josh's video there is a way to export it, but on the Primate version, I cannot find a way to export. There is a export option under File/Export, but Vegas cannot see it when I try to open it.

I am beginning to think there might be a bit of "slight-of-hand" here by Magix. Their advertising implies that that with the add on you can import the data from the add on, but maybe that's not the case. Maybe you need to buy the full Pro version for that purpose. Hope I am wrong!

@Cmin7669 - Yes, it's taken me at least 4 years to understand the various combos. However, I'm using the OFX that I purchased, not as part of Continuum, but the separate OFX. I'd really like the two Parties, VegasCreative S/W and BORIS to put out a graphic pathway, illustrating how the various products fall into place. Yeh, right, Turkeys Voting for Christmas . . .

Grazie/ How much did you pay for the OFX, if you don't mind me asking? And is it the full nine yards?

Grazie wrote on 9/6/2021, 4:39 AM

I don’t mind you asking. The full nine yards? Do you mean is it complete? As far as I can tell, most certainly.

@Cmin7669  ... Mocha Pro is $695 USD for a new licence - https://borisfx.com/store/?collection=mocha-pro&product=mocha-pro&host=plug-in-ofx&purchase-options=new-license

... and that comes with a 12 months update and support plan. If you do not renew, you can continue to use Mocha Pro forever but without getting updates/support from the end of the plan (much like the approach Vegas Pro 19 has now adopted). Mocha Pro also has annual or monthly subscription plans, but access to Mocha Pro ends if/when the subscription is stopped (much the same as the subscription plans with Vegas Pro 19).

If you are considering purchasing (not subscription) a new product like Mocha Pro OFX from BorisFX, they've had good Black Friday deals. The last 2 years saw 25% off for a single product purchase (much more for bundles - about 50% from memory) but its only one item or bundle per person.

I should add that Mocha Pro has a trial version available: https://borisfx.com/products/mocha-pro/?collection=mocha-pro&product=mocha-pro

You should be able to get the result without the full Pro Version. Basic tracking and export/import of such as Scrapyard is demonstrating is really part of every basic version of Mocha, e.g.: Mocha AE free version included with After Effects.

The start time would have to be delineated, as per the "regions" suggestion. There is a special tracking import button or menu entry inside Vegas as per Scrapyards finely detailed tutorial (Kudos), and only certain Vegas friendly export/import "flavors" will work, as he has pointed out.

Again, this is basic stuff, if it is going to work at all, you wouldn't need the full verstion. There is a "Hitfilm" Mocha version and Vegas Effects and Hitfilm Pro are basically the same program but - initially anyway - Vegas Effects for some reason has no Mocha (maybe that's been changed) but there are at least a couple of ways you can get mocha working INSIDE Vegas via Hitfilm Express (free version) as a paid plug in add-on feature, or just get Hitfilm Pro. I got Hitfilm Pro for $30 in a Humble Bundle offering. So, in some form or fashiion you should be able to get basic Mocha tracking for as little as $49. https://fxhome.com/store/hitfilm-express#mocha

Mocha Hitfilm is certainly a good thing, I use it (via "Edit in Hitfilm" or Stand alone in Hitfilm Pro).

But I don't see how to export tracking data from Mocha Hitfilm to Vegas, because Mocha Hitfim uses only *.hfcs track data, i.e. Mocha HitFilm exports only to HitFilm composite shots, so only (full version) Mocha Pro allows to export tracking data to multiple formats.

The answer to "Import MOCHA Pro DATA Tracking into VP?" is: not with light weighted Mocha Hitfilm

Thank you @frmax for posting your findings re Mocha HitFilm - that is an important point to highlight for those not fully acquainted with the various versions of Mocha.

If you need the Mocha Pro to import data to Vegas (which you do) then why bother and not just use Mocha?

Are there any advantages to actually importing that data as compared to just using Mocha as plugin in Vegas?

@misohoza - And we’re back to my original “of-how” as there’s several options I’d like to know. Now, if there are, let’s see ‘em.
