Intel Kaby Lake 4k

I'm looking for an NLE capable of 4k editing on an 4 core i7-7700k.

I see MAGIX Movie Edit Pro Plus claims to be the first to use Intel GPU AVC/HEVC decoding on the timeline which means it should work with a Kaby Lake i7 CPU

Vegas Pro also claims 4k editing - does it now also use Intel hardware decoding for h.264 - or will I need a 8-10 core CPU with an expensive Nvidia card?

There is much variation in the difficulty of handling "4K". Please state your source for 4K, (UHD); camera type, wrapper and codec. Here is a timeline preview test result for an i7-6850 with an AMD RX480 which is very current.

The most common wisdom is to buy an 8 core processor but many of us toil along with six cores and twelve threads. I can't comment on Movie Edit Pro Plus.
