Looks like a conflict due to each Video codec and Audio codec.

The Video codec is AVC and usually it pairs with Audio codec of AAC.

What your shared-mediainfo data shows the Audio codec is MPEG audio (MP3?)

If this MP4 is from other editor or screen capture application, change the encoding video codec to AVC and encoding audio codec to AAC.

If you can't resave or reedit, then you need to transcode the MP4.

I switched over the audio encoding to aac instead of mp3 and it works, thank you very much!

I am having the same exact issue, but I don't know how to switch the audio/video encoding. How did you do it?

@Nicholas-McMurray This is a three year old thread so unlikely the OP will respond. Anyway the switching over needed to be done at the recording stage and we don't know how the recording was done. Neither do we know how you are recording (if you are) and in what format your problem files are.

Please post MediaInfo on one of your files so we can help further.

My problem files are MP4s. I recorded gameplay footage using AMD’s Adrenaline software but I don’t know if that’s much of a factor considering every other MP4 I try to import fails as well. I recently bought a new pc with an AMD 9070XT to replace my old pc with an RTX 3070. This was never an issue for me on the 3070, I imported MP4 files into the Vegas 14 all the time. To be honest, I don’t know where to find the mediainfo that everyone’s familiar with. Any and all help with this is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

@Nicholas-McMurray If you have MPC-HC or MPC-BE players then the media info tab they have provides info as illustrated in the first post in this thread.

Otherwise download MediaInfo app, instructions here https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

In my recollection the Adrenaline software is variable framerate and not ideal for editing. If you could share MediaInfo that's helpful. You can convert media for testing (output format h264) with a free tool like ShutterEncoder to see if it works any better. https://www.shutterencoder.com/
