Issue With Installation

When trying to install the trial version of Vegas 14, I keep getting the message : "Setup has detected that the system is currently waiting for a reboot to complete a previous installation or update. To avoid problems, please reboot your system before installing."

Obviusly, I have tried multiple times to restart the PC. I used to have Vegas 13, and deleted it to make room for 14. Now I can not re-install 13 either. I get the same message for 13 as I do for 14. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The version numbers are 14.0.0.161 and 13.0.453. Thanks in advance.

If that happened to me I'd first of all check Windows Programs and Features and uninstall VP13 or VP14 if they are there. I'd probably then do some manual removal of folders related to those 2 programs, if there are any left over. Then I would do a cleanup with Ccleaner (free version), including the registry. However that program gave me a problem leading to a Windows re-install a few years ago, so proceed with caution. Do a registry backup when it prompts you, and it's a good idea to create a system restore point and/or make a system image backup before you start.

Thanks for the ideas. I have already uninstalled Vegas but I will try the other things you mentioned.
