Issues Trimming & Rendering 2.7K video

Hi All, I'm a Vegas Pro 12 user for the past couple years but never with video higher than 1080 resolution. I'm trying to edit some 2.7K video from my DJI Phantom and have two issues:

1. lots of issues with lag when trying to trim clips. My computer is a bit older with 2.53 GHz i5 and 8GB RAM, AMD Radeon 6300 Graphics so that may be part of it.

2. What's a good render codec for 2.7K for Youtube? I've been using Sony XAVC 2K Intra 29.97p because it was the closest to my raw footage.

Does Vegas Pro 12 have the ability to create video proxy directly in Project Media tab?

Here's the Youtube's reference: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/1722171?hl=en . I would use Mainconcept AVC and customize following Youtube's suggested render settings.

1 I am able to create video proxy's. Had never used this feature before, will try on my next edit.
