Issues with rendering multi-track project as MP3

harpybrother_1 wrote on 1/22/2025, 3:28 AM

Hello all,

I am having issues with my vegas 22 not being able to render my multitrack project to mp3, I have 2 xavcs video and audio tracks from Sony cameras and 15 .wav audio tracks from an audio mixer interface. When I go to render the audio out by itself as an .mp3 for uploading to podcast feeds, it hits anywhere from 2-5% and permanantly freezes. I am editing on a ryzen 2700x 32GB with a nviidia1070, and to a large external hard drive. If I render out to an mp4 for video it will render fine, although it takes a long time, which is why this is a separate computer for this purpose.

Any help is appreciated and I can provide any information requested.

Have you tried resetting Vegas?

btw @harpybrother_1, this topic may get more/better responses in the Vegas Pro Audio forum.

I have not, however this is a brand new first install on this machine. I will give that a shot and update.
Update: after doing this it still stalled out at 20%

@harpybrother_1 Hi, you mention rendering to MP4 works ok, does it still fail if you try rendering the audio to a different audio format other than MP3?

also failed when trying to run as .wav. I need them to render at either .wav or .mp3 for my podcast site to accept them

The video file could be the cause of the issue. Try removing the video (picture) events from the timeline leaving just the audio, If that does not help, transcode the video's audio to PCM or render the video audio to a new track and remove the source video files all together from the project. Then select "Tools> Clean project media" and Save as.

that appears to have helped, but I didnt see a tools option that was mentioned above. the farthest yet it hit %81 but still stopped.

Have you tried rendering to an internal drive?

I assume VP22 is the same as the legacy versions, 'Render to new track' has been a Vegas tool as long as I can recollect.. going back to the audio only Sonic Foundry versions. I am not sure it will help in this case though.

I would start with muting the (video) tracks you don't need or soloing just the (audio) tracks you need to render.
