Izotope RX9

Roger Bansemer wrote on 2/4/2023, 7:51 AM

I've tried to set up Izotope RX9 in my preferences so I can open RX9 straight from Vegas20. Here's a screen shot of my setup preferences and although it does switch to RX9 when RX9 opens it just says "decoding" and then nothing happens and it hangs up where I have to use ctrl/alt/del to even close it.

Any suggestions for a fix so I can access RX9 straight from Vegas.
Thanks. Roger

Is it an issue just with this file or in general? Otherwise render out a wav for that audio and bring it into RX9.

It's only an issue with that one program as it's the only one I have set up that way in Vegas.
As you suggested, I have been doing just that, rendering it out and then bringing it into RX9 but since the feature is suppose to be available in Vegas I thought I'd like to have it set up that way. Not a big issue but would be a convenience.

I didn't mean that one program, I meant a problem with Izotope not being able to decode that one mp4 file. I use RX 9 with VP 19 and 20 without issue.

RX9 works fine if I just render and drop the wav file into it and it's a great program. Its saved me quite a few times from annoying background sounds, etc.

I assume it's just an issue with this type of MP4 file then as I haven't seen this problem. Other MP4s work fine. (X-AVCS from a Sony here)

Feel free to share the MediaInfo to narrow down the issue. https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

I've tried several types of files and none of them work when trying to access through V20 and all of them work when opening them directly in RX9 so I'm pretty sure any mediainfo wouldn't be of any help.

Work-a-round: set RX9 as the "Preferred Audio Editor" in "Options> Preferences> Audio" .. assuming VP-20 is like previous builds.

@Roger Bansemer

Did you try Open copy in the audio editor instead of trying to open the file directly?

Roger Bansemer wrote on 2/4/2023, 12:55 PM

Yes!! That works, the "open copy in audio editor". However, I did discover that an audio file will not open in RX9 if the clip has been shortened or split.

Thanks for your help everyone... Roger

In preferences/ general, is "close media files when not the active application" checked? If not, try checking it. Perhaps somehow Vegas is blocking RX9 from opening these files. Otherwise I am out of ideas for non-workarounds. I'll keep an eye out in case it happens here.

"close media files when not the active application"

+11

If you are not aware already,
"Open copy in audio editor" creates a new 'take' file in VP of just the event's audio to work on in audio editor app over the top of the original event. Multiple 'takes' can be toggled with the 'T' key in Vegas.
"Open in audio editor" opens the entire file in the audio editor (which can be 'destructive editing' permanently changing the original file when saved in the audio editor.
