lag or choppy view with 4K in timeline

I have Vegas pro 14 and Vegas Movie Studio 13. When I play my 4K video in Vegas 14 it runs with a huge lag, but when I play it in Studio 13, it runs perfectly ...... both programs on the same computer - windows 10 . Any help would be appreciated .

I had already done everything up to the GPU comment with no success ........ I'll start to try the other suggestions.

I shoot with a Sony AX100. The three formats I can chose from are: XAVC S 4K --- XAVC S HD ---- AVCHD. I am shooting with AVCHD because the other 2 formats run with a lag... hard to edit with that. Frame rate I choose is 30fps 60i - I could choose 60p or 24fps. I also choose High Quality FH, instead of High Quality FX
