locking up when I try to render.

ThatLostGamer wrote on 10/27/2021, 10:48 PM

ever sense Vegas Pro 13, I have had an issue with the program locking up when rendering.

no walk thru on youtube has ever helped me.

I have updated my drivers, factory reset the program, adjusted the GPU acceleration and Dynamic Ram.

the one thing that did help back in the day was turning off CPU cores and trying to render with only one.

CPU: Intel Core I7 8700K
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 TI
RAM: DDR 4 64GB
Motherboard: Alenware 0VDT73

Problem Description
   Application Name:    VEGAS Pro
Application Version: Version 19.0 (Build 381)

Fault Process Details
   Process Path:        C:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 19.0\vegas190.exe
Process Version:     Version 19.0 (Build 381)
   Process Description: VEGAS Pro

I just got pro 19 with the hope it would fix the issue, but I am still having the same problem.

When you say factory reset, you clicked on the desktop icon and when prompted, checked the box to "clear the cache"? https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-can-i-reset-vegas-pro-to-default-settings--104646/

What do you mean by adjusted GPU acceleration and dynamic ram preview? Neither should be necessary in VP 19. I wouldn't touch the cores either.

This computer looks newer than anything you would have used back in the day with VP 13.

Can you share a screenshot of help/driver update and preferences, file i/o?

What media are you using, specifically? Please paste in info from Mediainfo . Are there any Fx applied, and if so which ones?

ThatLostGamer wrote on 10/27/2021, 10:54 PM

it seems to lock up when it reaches a specific frame of the video.

so it would always lock up at lets say 11%.

the way I got around to this is by rendering the video in many small sections, then starting a new project and then rendering all the sections together.

ThatLostGamer wrote on 10/27/2021, 11:02 PM

that is correct. I cleared the cache.
where can I find the  help/driver update and preferences, file i/o?
no Fx on videos.
how do I post a screen shot here?

I just updated the driver again, but the program locked up again.

For MediaInfo you need to paste in the full text- screenshot of the summary is not necessary. Here are instructions: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

For driver update that's fine- you are using the latest NVIDIA Studio driver it looks like. Don't keep updating it. When you scroll up, what does it say for the Intel iGPU?

I GPU is Intel UHD Graphics 630

System Version: 30.0.100.9864

RogerS wrote on 10/28/2021, 8:03 AM

Both GPU drivers are recent and should be fine.

How are you rendering this- try MagicAVC with Mainconcept if you've been using something different.

I think there could be issues with the media and Vegas. One it is variable frame rate (though not much variability). The second is long GOP "GOP: M=1, N=90" If I'm reading that right it's 90 frames...
Is this media a screen capture or from a camera?

I have a couple of ideas. One is to see if setting hardware decoder to off/none on file i/o or checking legacy AVC helps when trying to render this type of file. If either helps then just change settings to this before you render

The second idea is to see if transcoding this file will solve issues in Vegas. Just do one clip and see if it helps. Software like Handbrake or Shutterencoder can change it into a constant frame rate AVC/h.264 file. Just don't use hardware encoding when you do the conversion. Then in Vegas, go to the media window, right-click on your media, select "swap video files" and point Vegas to the converted media. Try to render.

I am back.
I render with Sony AVC/MVC normaly.

I gave Magix AVC/AAC MP4 a try and it made it much further before locking up.
the videos are made with an app in BlueStacks 5, the exported back into windows.
I am wondering if the videos are making the video lock up.
I am going to try and render each video segment with vegas and see if it fixes the videos.

I will try Shutter Encoder first. thanks.

ThatLostGamer wrote on 10/28/2021, 6:48 PM

I just finished encoding all 11 of the videos, then replaced the videos in vegas pro 19 with the new videos, then attempted to render with Magix AVC instead of Sony AVC, and it worked!

thank you so much. this is the first time I was able to fix this issue.

Vegas doesn't seem to like really long GOP videos like that at this time, so that is likely your best option for trouble-free renders. Enjoy Vegas : )
