Long, long loading time when i try to open Plug-In Chain

Athroenus wrote on 3/27/2021, 4:59 AM

Hello everyone, recently i have a problem with this - after clicking on Plug-In Chain to add an effects to my video it takes about 30 seconds to load my window with all effects i guess this is cuz i have a lot of effects, but i wondering isn't there a way to somehow skip this loading time, cuz in a long editing session is pretty annoying?

I'm using Vegas Pro 13 on windows 10, version 20H2, on my PC i have 1050TI, 16 GB RAM, Intel Pentium Gold 5600, 3.90GHz

1, this Intel Pentium Gold 5600 is really not very goldig.

2, many Plugins are GPU accelerated, and the 1050Ti is not much powerful, too.

You should confront it all the time in the future. Or you invest new hardware.

@Yelandkeil - I agree.

@Athroenus - There isn't a software fix. It's a hardware fix OR use fewer FXs and/or have you set up your project to match your Media?

Please give us your FX chain and I'll run it through my MONSTA! Machine 😉.

I know that this PC is not the PC I would like for editing and rendering, etc. and I will change some parts very soon, but I have also seen people with much stronger computers than mine, also with similar problems. Yes, im set up project to match Media

Athroenus wrote on 3/27/2021, 5:42 AM

otherwise I have absolutely no problems with the program, I don't have lag on preview or lag with transitions etc. such as typical problems only this.

RogerS wrote on 3/27/2021, 5:58 AM

I wonder if there are third party Fx slowing it down. Even on slower PCs than that it's instant for me.

this was exactly my first idea, but I don't know, I'm getting more and more involved in editing and I feel like my computer is really missing some things. But maybe really it would be better to last a little longer and finally buy a new better one

Is this system really that bad? You can get along editing with 16GB ram- I was doing 4K with 8GB for a few years. I have the GTX 1050 (4GB) in notebook version and it edits fine. The G5600 isn't that old and includes the Intel 630 iGPU. VP 13 is quite old, though and doesn't use hardware decoding. Consider upgrading at some point.

Something seems specifically wrong with the Fx that are causing a slowdown with simply loading the plug-in chain (doesn't seem to be talking about preview performance). If it were me I'd try uninstalling some of these Ofx and then reinstalling one by one until I figured out which one was the issue. I'd also look for latest versions/updates.

I can say my computer handles with editing and rendering well, etc. but really as you say maybe there are just some things in the Ofx that bother the program itself, not that it is heavy for the computer

Reyfox wrote on 3/29/2021, 4:57 AM

Can you provide a screen shot of the plugin chain you are using?

RogerS wrote on 3/29/2021, 5:15 AM

And a screenshot of what's in your OFx in general would be great, too. Perhaps one is in need of an update.

Athroenus wrote on 3/30/2021, 12:51 PM

here are my plugins and some of my filters

Reyfox wrote on 3/30/2021, 2:00 PM

That's an awful lot of plugins to add. Is the hard drive light constantly blinking when doing this? Or look at Task Manager and see if the hard drive is being accessed.

maybe the problem really comes from the fact that I have a lot of plugins, but most of them I need and I really don't know what to do

Athroenus wrote on 3/30/2021, 2:35 PM

In fact, the disk loads the moment I want to load the plugins

J-Toresen wrote on 3/30/2021, 2:57 PM

@Athroenus

Maybe you can create several smaller subprojects and render each project using an intermediate codec.

Then in the end render all subproject to the delivery format.

Amazing how much in money spent on plugins to run on a really underpowered computer. I would have bought a computer (and back then, a Pentium Gold was a low end processor) instead of all those plugins which cost thousands...

The entire subsystem of the computer is probably slow rpm mechanical drives causing slow load times.

I will soon buy a computer and so far I have found a solution - just clear the cache to refresh the program and somehow works better

RogerS wrote on 3/30/2021, 8:43 PM

Nice, glad clearing the cache/resetting Vegas helped you.

I don't know why people are giving you a hard time about the computer given that it was far faster than what Vegas Pro 13 required at the time. I used VP 12 for years with 8GB of ram and a 1GB Radeon GPU.

when you say you have a problem with a program or a game, the first thing that comes to mind is that your computer is weak, you always blame the computer for a problem. But I've really seen people with scary computers who have problems with basic things

Reyfox wrote on 3/31/2021, 6:15 AM

It's not the computer itself, it's what is asked for it to do that is causing it to struggle.
