Magc YUV files in VP19 unable to load. Also no render option.

hambonio wrote on 9/16/2021, 4:09 PM

I upgraded to Vegas 19 simply because I was able to get the upgrade to Post for a good price. Mainly to get Vegas image.

When i tried opening up a recent project that was all rendered with MagicYUV to AVI files, it would not recognize any of the files. It just gave me errors and when I cleared the errors all the files in the project just showed as missing media.

I also noticed there is no render option for MagicYUV anymore either.

I can still thankfully open this project in VP 18, but still would like to move on to VP 19 just to be up to date if possible. I love the fluidity and stability the MagicYUV files have been for me while using VP18.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I think I just got it to work. I copied the folder magicyuvplug located in C:\Program Files\Vegas\Vegas Pro 18.0\FileIO Plug-Ins\magicyuvplug and moved it to the identical folder under Vegas Pro 19.0

At first this alone didn't work so I investigated more.

I then found magicyuvplug.x64.fio2007-config that is located in C;\Program Files\Vegas\Vegas Pro 18.0 in the main directory. Copied that file to the identical folder in Vegas Pro 19, and now I can see the files, they play even more beautifully than they did in VP 18 and I do see a render option (have not used it yet).

FOR THE RECORD: The install file for the paid version only gives options for VP 17 and 18, and not 19 so it will not install there automatically. You have to do these manual steps.

And what I mean by more beautifully is my 60p footage is playing at a full 60 FPS in VP19 immediately after loading the project. While that may not sound great - I realized my ETH Mining software was running at the same time which usually cripples editing and have to turn it off to do so. And before to get 60FPS playback it seemed like I had to wait a few minutes (sometimes like 30 mins) after the project opened. Now it is instant.

What a star, I did the first step but not the second. Many thanks - well done.

Are you getting the render options, too or just playback?

Yep! It's all there and it works! And even has my old custom presets in there as well.

Copied @MagicYUV

Thanks, it works. I had just gotten a new computer and only installed V.19. Had to reinstall V.18, but that wasn't too much effort.

This is an expected behaviour. If you use a new host (VEGAS Pro 19) you have to reinstall the plugins (MagicYUV).

Now MagicYUV just needs to update the installer...

The MagicYUV installer does not currently give an option for Vegas Pro 19 - so it must be done manually after installing into an older version.

I noticed the same: copied MagicYUV stuff from VP17 and when I opening "Render As" dialog I'm getting an error mentioned MagicYUV most of the times (but not always!)

I upgraded from VP17 to VP19 and have not tried to install MagicYUV to VP18 and copy it from there to VP19 yet.

I hope MagicYUV installer will be updated soon.

UPDATE: Installed MagicYUV for VP18, copied manually to VP19 -- all good. Noticed, that dll files size from VP17 and VP18 are different.

Sorry for being absent, the installer is now updated, it installs the same plugin for both VP18 and VP19. It should work fine, but I have to verify with MAGIX if the plugin API has changed or not.

However the VP17 plugin will cause crashes if used with VP18 or newer, as the plugin API has changed in newer versions.

MagicYUV wrote on 11/15/2021, 5:02 AM

As an additional note for tinkerers, there are 2 files that are relevant for the plugin, in case someone's interested:

"c:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 19.0\magicyuvplug.x64.fio2007-config"
"c:\Program Files\VEGAS\VEGAS Pro 19.0\FileIO Plug-Ins\magicyuvplug\magicyuvplug.dll"

(Note that the plugin also depends on other DLLs installed globally by the installer into the Windows system.)

@MagicYUV Hi. I've been trying to do this for VP20 from VP19, I've transferred all the files but still not showing?

Seems like i have the latest, I thought i would run the installer anyway just to see if it repaired or update & it says Install Vegas Pro 19 Plugin, does that mean it's not compatible with VP20 yet?
