MASSIVE Problem with Vegas Pro 14 :(

Thank you guys for your help in advance!

I've been using Vegas Pro for about 10 years now, and Vegas Pro 14 is the first I've ever had problems on. I have Windows 10, i7, 3.60 GHz, 32GB Ram and a GTX 1070 GPU.

My problem is that Vegas isn't able to handle a lot of files. I tried importing 4K from my Canon 1DX Mark II- as I import a few it works... then I import more and the program just stops reading the files. Like all the clips on the timeline either turn white, or say missing... and nothing shows up on the preview.

And this also happens when I import a bunch of 1080 files too- albeit I can have more 1080 files on the timeline than 4k.

I've been struggling on a 7 minute video piece now for a month. My goodness, it's killing me!

Does not sound normal. Does any sort of media run well?

Here's some suggestions for trouble shooting from Nick's FAQ

Assuming you are not running hacked firmware on your Canon. Based on the camera specs, you are tying to import 4K M-JPEG in MOV format. And 1080 would likely be MOV as well. I would check the media properties in vegas and make sure the files are not using a QT DLL.

Then do a test where you copy a bunch of files to another folder and convert them to .AVI or .MXF using FFMPEG copy. This will rule out issues with the file formating from the camera.

You could also just convert all the media with FFMPEG to Prores and run some tests.

System wise, moving to an RX480/580 8GB card would be better than that 1070 in a Vegas workstation.

Here are instructions for converting .mov files to .mp4 files to avoid the Quicktime codec. You could adapt those instructions to convert to .avi or .mxf instead.
