MC vs Sony encoders and Mpeg2

Hi

The qualities, problems and shortcomings of the AVC encoders in Vegas have been discussed before, and lately the favourite seems to be Sony's, when compared to MainConcept's encoder.
But how about the MC MPEG-2 encoder? Just how good is it, at least for everyday use? Or will I gain something by exporting to a different format, and encode in for instance TMPGEnc?

You will get a lot of discussion on this.

As for a standalone H264 app I like HandBrake.

In my experience and tests Cinemcraft and Procoder were the best. TMPGEnc was also better than the MC encoder in Vegas.
