2. Tahoma Font

3. Verdana Font

These are standard fonts I also have installed with Windows. I'd be surprised if he missed these.

Chuckles. Oh yes, Haettenschweiler DOES SOUND FAMILIAR. That unpronounceable font that I chose during my project!! My project restores perfectly now. The help means so much to me. If you are ever in Israel, (send me an email) I would love to help you out with anything you need.

My plan now is to follow the steps given and see if I can successfully find the fonts on my own. Maybe then I can post a simple guide summary in case it is helpful to someone else in the future.

I'm really glad we could help 😉

So a bit of an update. Maybe this is close to figuring out why I couldn't find the texts in the veg file myself.

I have a problem when using Total Commander and following the video very carefully that klt kindly uploaded for me.

Open Total Commander.

Highlight the .veg file on the left column

F3

But when I try to highlight "4" for Image/Multimedia, it doesn't really switch to 4. When I look to see what I am on, I am on "1" for text. I can't get Total Commander to allow me to select "4".

I'm sorry. That's why I would probably a bad teacher. And the second lesson is not to follow my steps blindly, without actually knowing the goal of it. 😀

Well I need to explain this a bit. When I want to look into a file of which the content is unknown to me, usually I prefer the hex view. This was my first suggestion, if you look back in this thread. However, I did some search back and forth in a bigger .veg file, and found hat a fixed line length text view works better in this case. An that's the "binary" (or the similar named) option of the viewer.

So I clicked the wrong menu, but then it made a fall-back to another mode, and I got exactly what I wanted to see, so did not notice my mistake, until you spotted it. Ooops.

I wanted to give a quick help, as quick as possible. And yes, I can screw up even the most simple things. So, just do your searches in the viewer in that fixed line length mode, but before excuse me my mistake please!

Hi again Klt. You are waaaay too hard on yourself! No big deal. I'm the one who needs the lesson, not you.

I am still having problems ultimately with successfully searching ANYTHING inside Total Commander.

I realize this sounds impossible so I have recorded a down and dirty screen capture to show what is happening here in my world. Can anyone spot what I am doing wrong??!!

@i am erikd

You don't check regexp in your search. Without that option you are searching actually for string "A.n.n.o". Including the dots between the useful chars. When you check regexp, the search will do a search for the regular expression, where the dot (.) means ANY char. So if you do a regexp search for "A.n." it wil match, "Agnh" or "Anna" or "Anne", etc... That's why a regexp search for "A.n.n.o.u.n.c.e" will match the Announce with the zero bytes between the chars.

It works now! So sorry that I really was being STUPID. Somehow I missed the Regexp detail. This is a huge lifesaver for me! Thanks again!!!!

I do believe you just learned something new. Is that a stupid thing? I don't think so... 😉
