Media import video and audio are out of synch

TERRY-HANCOCK wrote on 2/3/2025, 6:10 PM

Just got Vegas Pro 22 and expected all the synch problems to have been worked out. Have an old mpeg 1 that has perfect audio synch when played on Media Play or VLC. Perfect. After imported to Vegas Pro 22, everything is way out of synch...many frames off. As I got Vegas Pro 22 for restoration purposes only, it is critical that all old media retain their synch. I have legacy checked in I/O, and new imports of the same media are always way off. NEED that audio synched to those mouths. The synch previously NEVER varied...when going from Super 8mm to VHS to then DVD. Now want to restore in 22 without losing synch.

I9 processor, advanced NVIDIA cpu, etc.

What's the last version of VEGAS that worked for this?

What's the media in particular? Can you share a sample via a file sharing service?

No sharing. MPEG existing on this PC. A file that is known for over 50 yr. Stored, at the moment, in documents. Runs beautifully from there in any known media player. Perfect synch of old 8mm/then VHS/then DVD audio to video frame. Vegas Pro recognizes it and imports it as media. Old grainy vid runs perfectly in Vegas Pro 22...but audio is many frames off. Can jump to original at any time and play in perfect synch. Expected this to be TOO simple for pro 22. No streaming, just an old fashioned existing mpeg that plays well on all players.

Don't expect it to get fixed unless someone can document and replicate this problem. I'd continue to use the last version of VEGAS you had that worked well.

What build version of Vegas Pro? Also, saying you have an i9 and Nvidia is no real information. You should put your computer specs in your Signature like mine below. It will save time.

As for the file, because it plays in a media player doesn't mean it will play nicely in Vegas. Use MediaInfo, which is free. Run MediaInfo, then drop one of the problematic files on top of it. Make sure you have View>Text selected. Copy/paste results in your next reply.
