Mercalli V6 plugins for Magix aren't showing up

One more thing... I seem to remember the V5 had a "Stabilize RT" that would stabilize events without the need to analyze. Never used it in V5 and I do not see it in the OFX plugins.

I installed Mercalli OFX after a clean install of Vegas Pro 22.

Under "Third Party" in the Plug-In Chooser, I find:

CMOS Fixr Pro

Mercalli Pro

Picture Enhnzr RT

@amendegw thanks for the additional information. I am thinking that maybe V5 Suite might be causing a conflict.

I'll uninstall V5 Suite and reinstall OFX V6 and see how that goes.

Thanks again for the additional information. I haven't heard from proDAD yet....

Thanks @J-Toresen. I'll uninstall proDAD V5 and see what happens. But there still should be no conflict with V6 or it should be noted that you have to uninstall it and then install V6 since they are basically the same thing.

Does anyone have Resolve?

@Reyfox I have resolve studio.

@Reyfox @J-Toresen @amendegw Thanks for following up on the Mercalli V6 plugins for OFX, I had no idea that the Mercalli V6 OFX installer also installed 2 other V6 OFX plugins like Picture Enhnzr RT and CMOS Fixr Pro. The were silently installed without my knowledge.

I should have known however, as I already owned Mercalli V6 Standalone which had those 2 functions build in, so I was not expecting this as separate OFX plugins, but rather build in Mercalli V6 OFX so when it was not inside the Mercalli V6 OFX itself, I was not looking further to separate OFX's!

Also the plural of plugin with "s" in " Mercalli V6 plugins for OFX", should have been a indication as well!

All in all the deal gets even more sweet now!

@Reyfox Resolve studio ( v19.1.1 and v19.1.2) seems to have an issue with the Mercalli V6 OFX plugins. Resolves does not start up and "hangs" in loading plugins. I found a way to start up Resolve by temporary renaming the OFX suffix in C:\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\OFX\Plugins\proDAD\proDADMercalli.ofx.bundle\Contents\Win64

from proDADMercalli.ofx to proDADMercalli.txt

Next kill the resolve process, and start up (successfully now) resolve

This way resolve starts up and the prodadmercalli plugin is now banned from startup from now on (disabled due to fail), this can be observed in in resolve's options, video plugins ...

IMPORTANT: as a final step rename back the suffix to proDADMercalli.ofx so Vegas or other OFX supporting NLE's will not be affected.

@bitman thanks. I started Resolve and it also stalled at Loading Plugins requiring Task Manager to relieve it of its suffering. So much for Mercalli being "OFX". Thanks for "how"!

I was removing proDADMercalli.ofx.bundle from the C:\Program Files\Common Files\OFX\Plugins\proDAD folder (which also have for me Vitascene V5 which does work in both Resolve and Vegas) in order to start Resolve.

Strangely, if my failing memory serves me, with Mercalli V5 Suite installed, Mercalli V6 did work in Resolve, but Picture Enhanzr didn't. It would make the media turn all white.

What seems to be missing from V6 that was a part of V5 is Mercalli RT. I'm wondering if any changes were made between V5 and V6 Picture Enhanzr.

@Reyfox It is not the first time some OFX plugins are not compatible with Resolve, it seems that Vegas is a bit more forgiven /robust regarding OFX.

I have seen at times, some Boris continuum OFX plugins being not (yet) compatible with Resolve until patched by Boris as you read the Boris patch release notes...

Just purchased Mercalli 6.0 for Vegas & I'm using Vegas 22.0, but do not see a way to stabilize using my GPU. I'm I missing something, since my previous Mercalli 4.0 includes stabilizing using the GPU, which dramatically speeds it up.

My response from ProDAD regarding Mercalli 6.0 using GPU to stabilize within Vegas. Very disappointed the Vegas OFX plugin did not include using your GPU.

I spoke with our engineering now. The GPU acceleration is planned for the next version.

@Dan-Doak I noticed also that the GPU was not being leveraged when using the plugin or the standalone. But it leveraged a lot of the CPU.

@Reyfox

The Mercalli website states "NVIDIA hardware encoder support", so only for NVIDEA and not (yet) for AMD?

@bitman, do you see your GPU being used with the plugin? I'd install V5Suite to see if that has AMD GPU acceleration, but there was a conflict with it and the V6 plugin.

So this brings me to this question, @Dan-Doak what GPU are you using?

@Reyfox, Is it the standalone version or the plugin in the V5Suite that cannot coexist with the V6 plugin?

It’s been a long time since I used the V5 plugin. Can anybody explain the main differences between the V6 plugin and the V5 plugin?

Reyfox wrote on 1/9/2025, 11:51 AM

@J-Toresen I have V5 Suite installed first. I installed the V6 plugin. What didn't show up when I had both installed was the version number 6 on the Picture Enhanzr. It still showed up as V5.

Also, Mercalli RT isn't a part of OFX V6 either. Not that I used it though.

As for the difference between V5 and V6? proDAD says "better, faster", but the speed seems to be about the same for me. Maybe because I am using an AMD GPU, and not Nvidia. Someone that has a Nvidia will have to report if it is actually being used.

@Reyfox I have an Alienware M18 R1 laptop with a GeForce RTX 4090 GPU 16GB. The "analyze" function seems to work pretty fast for me but I don't have Mercalli V5 on my laptop for comparison. See the attached image. I took a screenprint of task manager while analyzing about 7 secs of 4K 29.97 fps Canon R5 video. Didn't seem to tax the GPU. Took about 20 secs.

@Reyfox Difficult to measure, analysis is fast, but I could not find a toggle in the plugin to disable the GPU. Using GPU-Z and Windows task manager seems to unreliable to me for this purpose. Still, here is a chart with 2 peaks in the 3D graph where I pressed the analyze button at 2 times on the same clip were it did the analysis in Mercalli pro OFX. GPU: NVIDEA 3090

Then again, the 2 peaks could also be due to the generation of the analysis progress bar in Mercalli OFX, I have no clue...

@bitman I've watched for GPU activity with Task Manager in both standalone and plugin of V6. Nothing to really report. Mercalli RT is a part of V5 Suite but I don't see it in V6 OFX, so I thought that it was not a part of it.

When I first was having V6 issues when Picture Enhanzr was showing as V5 and not V6, I contacted proDAD support and was initially told that PE was not a part of the OFX. I wrote back saying that their web page needs to reflect that since it does mention it, and I sent a screenshot of it. I was contacted back that it was included, but I didn't ask about Mercalli RT.

When I looked at the User Manual on page 21, t here is no mention of Mercalli RT for Vegas Pro. For Davinci Resolve, (page 29) it only lists Mercalli Pro and CMOS Fixr, but nothing loads and causes Resolve to crash.
