Missing DDL preventing Application Delete and Re-Install

RickyTC-Fung wrote on 8/1/2023, 11:12 AM

I have been long time users of Vegas and upgrade all of them. Recently Vegas 19 behave sporadically, can't load and I saw Vegas 20 offered. Bought the license. It didn't help with most of my third party audio plugs-ins are not working, want to go back but to no avail. Found both V19. V18 are gone, I now resort to V17 and iLok is normal again. Alll except Vegas 20 cannot be un-installed due to missing ddl.

I need the missing ddl before I can re-install, may be V19 or V18?

Windows 10 64, GTX1080 Intel 7700K, 32M Ram, 35G remaiing at Drive C

Any solution?

I really think you mean a .dll file. Which begs the question, what is it's name? Is it a Vegas .dll, or a Windows System .dll? Follow the instructions here for troubleshooting help:

For VP 20, try putting it back to default settings. https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-can-i-reset-vegas-pro-to-default-settings--104646/

most of my third party audio plugs-ins are not working

Are they 32-bit? You can enable 32-bit VST support in preferences.

Or do you mean they are found but don't work properly?

As far as what happened to your old versions of VEGAS that isn't clear. In general you can have them all installed side by side. If some of these were pirate versions consider deleting all traces of all of them with a third-party uninstaller and try again.

For applications where the uninstall data is missing, I use the "Force Uninstall" tool in Revo Uninstaller Pro. Revo has a very good free version that can remove the left-over registry entries and other pertinent data the default uninstall leaves behind,. The free version is adequate in most cases but does not have 'forced uninstall' option. Revo does offer a fully functional 30-day trial version of pro version though.
btw, I have been using Revo Uninstall for many years. It highly regarded by most including IT pros. The only issue I ever had, was it removed a shared plug-in when an alternate version of Sound Forge was uninstalled, but that was more my fault for not looking closer at the scanned files to be deleted list.

Thank you all for your help.

The missing .dll warning comes from "Windows Inataller Package" when I use the Apps un-delete function. It prevented me from completing the Undelete. So how may I get Windows dll.

I took the suggestion to use Revo Uninstaller. The standard undelete function faced the same problem. I use Force Delete, just the same but I futher use "Scan Left Overs". Vegas 18 was removed.

I will wait a few days to see what ill effect there is. However, it is wonderful to see such capabilty after I try and bought many PC Help Utilities. These may be casued some of the problems too I don't know. Probably I would buy the licence.

Bu the way, I bought my software direcrly from SONY and then Magix.
