More crashing from Vegas Pro

Jon-W wrote on 5/8/2024, 3:48 PM

Hello I have just had endless issues with Vegas Pro and now it keeps crashing when I open an existing project or start a new project and try and import media of a large file size.

This it the error message below, but I can't find anything about it online and haven't heard back from Vegas Support after I emailed them on the 2nd. Can anyone here please help as I have not been able to do any editing since then.

Thank you.

I was sent the following instructions prior to this from the helpdesk about occasional crashing and they said:

The crash is occurring within the igdrclneo64.dll. This is the OpenCL component of the NVidia driver. Doing some research, it appears this component has been quite problematic as of late.

It is potentially a conflict with intel driver support.

Please see these links for potential solutions:
https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/help-cannot-open-vegas-pro-14-edit-unmanaged-exception-0xc0000005--111080/
https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/1040942/faulting-module-name-igdrclneo64-dll/?offset=9

You can also try uninstalled both NVidia and Intel drivers with DDU, then disabled Intel graphics in the bios. You can find DDU here: http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

Then reinstalled the NVidia graphics drivers, but manually, via the device manager, letting it pick the minimal drivers files from the folder.

These instructions are not very clear to me as I don't know a lot about drivers, so can anyone please give me an easier breakdown of what I should be doing with all these instructions on drivers please?

I have no idea if this now constant crashing is related to this or something new though.

I would really appreciate anyone's help.

I really never had any idea just what a headache buying Vegas Pro would bring me!

Thank you,

Jon

Jon  C:\WINDOWS\System32\KERNELBASE.dll errors are really difficult to problem solve as they are conflicts with the program trying to interact with windows system. OpenCL and Cuda are the language GPU's use to interact with windows. CUDA is unique to NVIDIA, while OpenCL is an older universal protocol. to problem solve your issue it would help the experts here to know all about your system and media being used.

andyrpsmith wrote on 5/9/2024, 7:45 AM

Looking on line on this problem it is likely to occur if your GPU does not meet the min specs for Vegas, what is your GPU? OK looking at your sig it is the onboard GPU on your AMD processor?

I think your system could do with at least 32GB ram and better graphics. Can your laptop accommodate a GPU card? You could open this file to see what Vegas finds when assessing the compatibility of your GPU

Jon, is your only GPU the Radeon Graphics one? I don't know why support is saying Intel when you have an AMD CPU with iGPU. Because they are saying NVIDIA I also assume you have an NVIDIA GPU but it's not in your signature.

I'd just start with a DDU uninstall and then regular install of the current NVIDIA Studio driver and latest AMD Radeon Graphics driver. See if it helps.

"the GPU driver may need to be updated" seems like a good hint.

I did a search for driver updates for your CPU and it gave me this page: https://www.amd.com/en/support/download/drivers.html

Start there?

In DDU select device type and delete anything AMD driver related. Download the new driver and install it. Don't worry about safe mode unless this fails.

VEGAS uses the GPU in more places than just preferences/ video. Your iGPU is supported so try to get it to work if you want to use VEGAS.

Was it only the driver update that fixed it?

So glad to hear you can edit again!

I did the DDU thing to remove AMD and then used that link to reinstall AMD and Vegas worked.

Let's see how it goes!

I have uninstalled and reinstalled AMD before at some point, so now idea if it will have problems again in future.

But for now, thank goodness!!!
