Mp4 file not workin

Nisha wrote on 5/11/2020, 5:48 AM

Hey so I received an MP4 file from a client, and when I try to put it I’m my Vegas 16 the video is a few milli seconds long. I’m 99% sure the MP4 format isn’t supported, but I don’t know how to convert it without the audio and video quality dropping. Can anyone help this is an important job and if I can’t figure this out I can’t have it.

I had the same problem with Vegas Pro 15 and 16. Vegas Pro cannot handle this codec, and maybe the VBR do not like either. I solved it converting the video with HandBrake, as Vegas support did not give me a solution.

MP4 AVC is a standard video format for Vegas Pro and it use to work fine with it. There are rare exception. Also don't mix up VFR (variable frame rate) with VBR (variable bit rate). VBR as used above is standard for AVC encoding and there are no known issues with VBR video in Vegas Pro (actually using AVC encoding without VBR doesn't make too much sense).

"I solved it converting the video with HandBrake, as Vegas support did not give me a solution."

This solved it because it was a mixture of varialbe frame rate (which is not the case here) and MP3 audio (which also is not the case here).

@Nisha
Maybe a simple re-muxing to MP4 helps.
