mp4 not rendering on vegas pro

I have recently bought a new computer and stupidly didnt realise it was 64bit. thus my vegas platium 11 32bit does not work at all. so along with the cost of the new computer, i have now got to buy the big buck vegas pro 64bit version. yes, i could take the new laptop back, but its fast and i can see 24p footage at best in reatime. great. only problem is it wont render anything out to mp4 for ipad or and sony settings. it does a nice job of windows media, but i need the quicktime files to burn.
anyone had this issue? not ready to shell out the $600 quite yet until i get this sorted.
thanks anyone.

32 bit programs such as Vegas Platinum 11 can be installed and run on 64-bit versions of Windows.

What has the heading (mp4 and vegas pro) got to do with Vegas Platinum 11 and 64 bit windows?

There's something else wrong because you can install and run 32-bit software on a 64-bit system.

and, you can download both the 32- and 64-bit versions. install them both.
