Problem only started recently. I import clips (taken on phone or DJI pocket camera) the sound is muffled. If I import the same clips into Capcut, there is no problem with sound. What am I doing wrong
What do you mean by muffled- slow?
Are you using 21 build 300? If so there's a bug with mono audio that you can workaround by checking legacy AVC or experimental HEVC in options/preferences/file io. Or return to build 208.

Here are the two files that when imported to the Vegas Timeline have the sound muffled. This never happened before. I imported another type of file this morning and there was no sound issue. Thank you for your help.
Nothing muffled here. Did you by any chance activate a low-pass filter on one of the audio channels?
Great observation. What i did was resent my DJI pocket camera. And it solved the problem. I am grateful
I created a ticky-tacky workaround for people who already have projects underway.
