My renderings don't use my processor/graphics card

Nath.veg wrote on 6/25/2023, 10:22 AM

Hi, I'm making this post today to get some help with renderings.

I realized that my renders were very long (either with Sony AVC or Magix AVC/HEVC).
When I launch the render, my graphics card is barely at 15% and my processor 20%, I don't think this is normal, especially for a render that should be a big task for a computer, I've already tested a lot of things, and it always comes back like this, so my renders are very long when they could be much faster (I think).

(I have a GTX 1660TI with a Ryzen 7 5800x)

Looks like a good balance, what is slowing the render may not be in your rendering engine, but but the upstream processing.

Unfortunately, many FX are either computationally intensive, or still based on single threaded architecture, meaning the processor and GPU just have to wait.

I've already run the test under colleagues' computers, and their graphics card and processor (the same processor, btw) are much higher in percentage than mine.

First, change the amount of RAM that is reserved to 0 or default at the video settings
You did not give the NVIdia driverversion

If I set it to 0 I can't use the pre-render...
the NVIDIA driver version is below the Vegas Pro version screen.

You told to have problems with rendering, but if you use it much for prerendering than default is ok

the NVIDIA driver version is below the Vegas Pro version screen.

The Vegas developpers say to use the latest Studio driver
Yours are not.
Goto Help/Check for Driver Updates and look for your self.

I updated it a week ago, so it's not really a factor.

You had not the Studio driver, but the former Game Ready Driver.

Sorry, but this way I cannot help you with your problem (not mine). so this is my last comment on this topic
Good luck!

If using the same source file, and you do a straight transcode what happens then, is your processor still at 20%?

I don't use Sony AVC, but as it's a CPU encoder that would be very strange, and lead to questions about your source file
