There is a chance that the not responding is a windows message if Vegas is waiting for a project to load or a video to load especially from an older HD (not SSD or NVMe). I have an external back up drive which is a spinny HD loading files from this will make Vegas give the non responding message but it has not crashed only loading.

(Intel 3rd gen i5@4.1GHz, 32GB RAM, SSD, 1080Ti GPU, Windows 10) Not now used with Vegas.
