@Grazie, @jetdv Just for your information, I was prompted today to download a new build, build 210922. I was hoping that something had been done about Vegas crashing on exit if the titler hadn't been used in that session. No such luck. I still get a PR if I exit Vegas without first launching TP7.
I was also hoping that the issue where the background video didn't appear when the title was played. One of the two bug fixes mentioned compositing issues being fixed for Vegas and I had hoped that this was that issue. Again, no luck. The background still goes black when the TP7 timeline is played. Ah well.😞

@Jack S - Thanks for confirming. You’ve also confirmed that in the interim just how very little attention has been focussed on repairing what was once a spectacular piece of software, but now it is DNR. NB: No amount of obfuscating by agents of NewBlue will entice me to update to any future NBTP unless it also comes with a much improved customer service and bug chasing. NBTP has just so much going for it, it requires the attention of the owners of NB to get it right - this time.

Dexcon wrote on 9/24/2021, 8:08 AM

Thank you @Jack S for highlighting the update. After upgrading, I have found no difference with TP7. An issue that I raised a while back that NBFX advised that they would address - moving/placing a title on TP's workspace which took a while to respond in VP's preview window - has not been resolved. Move a title in TP7 then wait until it renders ('preparing title') and catches up in VP. This did not happen in TP5 and earlier. The 'preparing title' approach is a failed approached. NBFX, please go back to the zero latency updating of title placement and I will happily live with the extra time it takes to render when closing down back in TP5 days.

As @Grazie states:

... what was once a spectacular piece of software,

... yes - it still is - but at the same time it is almost unusable because NBFX have solved 'problems' that weren't even problems in Vegas Pro.

EDIT: This has wandered way off the OP's topic of the free Refocus plugins.

@Dexcon, thanks... this has gotten way off topic for sure. But it is also good to hear about first hand users of TP7. I still bought it in hopes that it will improve, and after reading the posts, am aware of what to expect. I find TP easier to use than Boris, since most of my titles are fairly basic.

@Dexcon - And that, right there, is how, IMHO, NB tries to wring-out the very last modicum and drops of revenue by a “tempting” FREE offer.

Dexcon wrote on 9/24/2021, 9:06 AM

Earlier in this post, Steve_Rhoden commented that:

NewblueFX has been repackaging the same old line of plugins for over ten years, giving the impression as if they are new....... in fact nothing is new or improved !

Most unfortunately, that does seem to be the case.

And that, right there, is how, IMHO, NB tries to wring-out the very last modicum and drops of revenue by a “tempting” FREE offer.

@Grazie  . but I do think that with the free offer that NBFX are aiming the offer at those who do not currently have NBFX plugins to induct them into the NBFX world. Not that that is of itself a problem because that is a long held approach from many companies with intro offers - look at any bonus offers that have long come with Vegas Pro.

If I don't have or ever used any of the plugins in Refocus, then it will be new to me. People have their thoughts and opinions on NBFX, but this is a free offer that a person can take or leave. All the other comments regarding TP7 will help in people making a decision (they can download the demo before buying), but this has turned into a slinging "mudfest" and not what was intended by my original post.

@Reyfox - Yes indeed, always download a DEMO.

but this has turned into a slinging "mudfest" and not what was intended by my original post.

@Reyfox - I’m sure it wasn’t, I understand. I want NewBlue to get NBTP back to how it was, an excellent and responsive Titler.

I really hope that accepting the 'free' Refocus offer doesn't result in a never-ending barrage of upgrade/get-more offers either by email or pop-ups. But then that is the way of marketing these days in so many differing product markets. You sign up for something free and then the deluge of email offers ensue.

@Jack S, I receive e-mails from places I've bought things for the things I've already bought all the time. How many e-mails have you gotten for VEGAS Pro 19? I've gotten several and I have a good, valid, license. It's definitely easier to just send mass e-mails than to try to weed out certain customers. I do understand what you are saying but that doesn't mean an organization is "disorganized".

@jetdv I take your point. However, I still stand by my statement. The many email conversations I've had with NB staff about bugs and issues, over more than two years, bears testimony to that. I won't go into details here. Don't get me wrong. I still think that TP7 is a brilliant piece of software. The multi-title management features are, I think, unique. In my many YouTube tutorials on Titler Pro 7, I praise it for its ability to create stunning titles and lower thirds.
This'll be my last statement in this thread.

I must disagree with the post from Steve_Rhoden regarding New Blue Video Essentials 2, REFOCUS is not and never has been part of NB VE2

@robertOZ, i know exactly what i am speaking about !

REFOCUS is the same filters that has always been there in there line up, it was just renamed and repackaged, as i clearly mentioned in my comments. It is simply a collection of filters from their Video Essentials line, so you are not gonna see the name refocus in VE2, and besides that was not the point..... The point was that they keep repackaging the same old plugins they have from around 10 years ago, no improvements really, nothing new, and presenting them as if they are new innovations.

That their is so wrong, at so many different levels.... And the notion that their repackaging is probably geared towards new and upcoming video content creators is nonsense and is simply one excuse to justify this marketing gimmick. Newblue was such a welcomed treat when they first landed back in the day, but after that, they just stood still with those line of plugin development, and hence doing what they are doing now..... Anyway, that is all i am gonna say on the matter !

So to get it back on track, my 2c will be that the 8 refocus FX's should be listed in your TP7... or TP5 fx's..

Yes. They will be listed in both VEGAS and Titler Pro (all versions)
