Need help to know where photos go in slideshow .veg

darkmoondreamer wrote on 10/1/2017, 6:54 PM

I am a "fairly" experienced Vegas Pro user but this has me stumped. This is a photo slideshow template...There were no instructions of course on where to place the photos in the timeline columns. I have tried all day to figure out where to place these photos so that they work right. The photos are revealed in black smoke. When I place photos in the timeline they are on top of the smoke. Can someone please help me figure this out? I can also send the .veg file if it would help. I need to knock this out pretty soon so I can finish my movie project. Thanks so much for any help you could give this tired old lady :)

Upload the .veg file to dropbox.com or some other file sharing site and post the link here. I am only able to open Vegas Pro 13 or below.

Just a long shot: If you right click any of the media in the timeline(s) then Properties + General will show where the template "thinks" that the pictures are stored - and their supposed names.

One way would be to put all your pics into the shown directory and then rename them suitably ...

Another (better) way would be to go into View Window Project Media and there one-by-one rename the shown media to your pics and their places.

A third (best) way would be to see what the template does in the timelines - and then (in a new project) build your own slideshow using these ideas...

Not sure why you'd need a template at all. Just import your pics as media ( create a dedicated stills media bin ), set the frame length for each foto ( you can even predefine crossfades ) and bring them to the timeline in your own costumized manner. Vegas aligns them according to their number / name, but with Vegasaur, you can also randomize them later.

Here is a link to the .veg file....The photos of the rock band are what I need in the slideshow if anyone can look at it. https://www.dropbox.com/s/823vy432m7w9i3t/Smokeshow.veg.bak?dl=0

Possibly you just need to click track #7, the "ANIMATIONS" track in the pale blue header area at the far left, hold down the mouse button and drag that whole track above track #6 above it, or perhaps even higher than that, then release the mouse button.

If that doesn't work, maybe you could share these example media of media to dropbox. e.g.

  • C:\Users\Karen\Desktop\BLACK SMOKE\TEXT FRAME\TEXT FRAME_000000.png - TEXT FRAME_000239.png
  • C:\Users\Karen\Desktop\BLACK SMOKE\Animation 01.mp4
  • C:\Users\Karen\Desktop\BLACK SMOKE\PHOTO EDIT\PHOTO EDIT 01.veg
  • Plus, whatever media (e.g. a photo) is inside that PHOTO EDIT 01.veg project

There is some description and a demo of this template at http://tameproduccionesweb.blogspot.pe/2017/05/free-template-sony-vegas-pro-11-12-13_20.html but I was led on a wild goose chase when I attempted to download the package.

Missing these files that are within the nested project PHOTO EDIT 01.veg:

  • ...TEMPLATE  SMOKE SLIDESHOW[TAME PRODUCCIONES]\MASK 01.mp4
  • ...TEMPLATE  SMOKE SLIDESHOW[TAME PRODUCCIONES]\PHOTOS\PHOTO 01.jpeg

So I still can't quite work out what's going on. Can you let us have a link where you downloaded this template package? Or re-share the whole package on Dropbox?

Maybe I don't understand the question, but from the example you give in your initial post it looks as though the smoke/animation is at the bottom of the stack. If the smoke/animation is to be on top of the slides it needs to be the uppermost event in the stack, not at the bottom.

You were EXACTLY right! renaming the photos worked! Thank you so very much!
