I've been using Vegas since version 4.0. Desperately need to buy a new computer to run most recent version of Vegas Pro. Any suggestions for an off-the-shelf computer that will do the job and not break ti bank? I'd like to stay in the $2000 range and I'm going to need two of them. Thanks for your help.
That's a little vague.
You can get an idea about how different components fare in the two benchmarks in my signature.
For a desktop $2000 is on the high side of what's needed for a great machine to run VEGAS.
For a notebook there are solid options in that range (happy with my ASUS Zenbook Pro).
To be less vague you could spell out some of your requirements, e.g. resolution, source & final formats, effects needed, pixel bit depth. Also, what's the level of performance you need for playback & rendering. Depending on these things, $2000 (each?) might be great or too slow for your taste. Looking through Roger's benchmark collection can help you find your sweet spot.
