Thank you guys for the precious help you are offering with your knowledge

@Steveooo

I have a laptop similar to yours but with a gaming GPU. I don't have any freezing issue by only dropping where on the timeline.

I'm using QSV as hardware decoder and nvdia as video processing (both are auto default)

Maybe you could also share a short video sample to try

RogerS wrote on 11/23/2023, 5:23 AM

Hi @Steveooo you got these backwards.

For raw video try OpenCL on the NVIDIA.

For hardware decoder set it to the Intel GPU.

Hallo friends, i wanted to share with you my situation:

Now i have issues in the simple playback of the clip (very slow preview) and i set the I/O options like this:

It's strange theat a machine like this one is having all this issues.

The preferences look fine. What is the media? https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

Thank you, it's 8-bit constant framerate AVC at a high resolution 2.7K 50fps and fairly high bitrate.

If you can open Windows task manager and performance do you see any GPU decoding activity when this file is being played back? There were some DJI issues in the past that led VEGAS to block it from using GPU decoding.

So next time i'll record in 25 p with the drone

RogerS wrote on 12/7/2023, 5:55 AM

Try Prestazioni to see what the GPUs are doing.

You can make a 25p timeline and add your 50p footage onto it. Right click and "add at project framerate" for 2x slow motion. It should play back more smoothly, too. You can also add a velocity envelope to do speed ramps.

My suggestion for this footage is to right click on the media and "create video proxy" for editing.

Getting closer! Now click on GPU0 while playing back the media.

Your video being 5K AVC, your gpu might be limited to decode 4096x4096 max (true for nvidia, I can't find information about qsv).

You can try enabling legacy avc. It may work better.

RogerS wrote on 12/7/2023, 7:03 AM

No GPU decoding it seems. Your ram is quite full.

Could you make a file from this camera available for download (Google Drive?)

I tried a similar GoPro file and it had GPU decoding on my system. (greater than 5K resolution)

You could try disabling the so4blacklist and see if it helps: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/blacklist-mode-for-so4-compound-reader-what-are-the-modes--124808/

I don't know if it affects this particular file type though. If it makes no difference put it back to normal.
