New feature suggestion: "jump to timeline events"

I'm working on a project with hundreds of clips in the timeline. I would love a way to quickly locate where a clip is in the timeline. At the moment I am having to scour through all the clips until I find it.

I know I can highlight the clip in the media pool and pick "select timeline events" but the highlighting is so subtle that it's impossible to see it unless I'm in the right area. It would be great to have another command that jumped me to the instances of the event in the timeline. Or am I missing something?

You can copy the timecode and then paste it into the timecode counter in the lower right corner of the timeline. Press the Enter key and you will jump to that exact location. Cumbersome, but it works.

OK, that's a workaround and much faster than what I was doing.Thanks guys. Would still love the extra command in Vegas 6 though!

You can also use the trim shortcuts, sorry I don't remember the key combo as I always use the Shuttle but they'll sequence through the in/out points of each clip.

" . .that's a workaround " .. . er, what else are you thinking of? I really can't imagine a faster way? Edit Detail view is great! . .Apart from actually talking at the screen, "Now go to . . " How would you assemble info and have a front end GUI to do it? .. . Hey, I like Ideas .. . we all like ideas .. What would be your Find of choice ...

The workaround term I see as being used for something that is a way we use something to get something to work .. . how's the Edit Deatils View a workaround? How's the search timecode a workaround?

Basically when I go media pool > right click > "select timeline events" I'd like the timeline to jump to the first instance of the file. If there are multiple instances of a file then choosing the command again should jump the timeline to each of them sequentially. That's would be faster than switching to event details, locating the clip, copying and then pasting.

If that screws people up who want to select all the events at one then a different command "jump to next instance" could be implements beneath "select timeline events" in the menu.

Sorry if my terminology is not right. I'm migrating from Premiere 6 so I'm still not up with "event-speak".

YEah, a Go To command from Edit Details or from any where would be neat ..

I wasn't even aware of the Edit Details view before, so thanks to Spot et al for mentioning it here.

Of course, when I opened the Edit Details view, I immediately looked for the control that would jump me to the selected event on the timeline... would be a great addition.
