Go to "Start," then "Run"...

Hey Scott,

I was wondering if it would be possible to slightly modify the transition as follows:

1) Provide the ability (a second mode if you will) to use the second source track as the gradient. This would make it way easy to take video and use it as the gradient, or to animate a still for the gradient. The output would then be the first source track with its alpha values modified based on the second output track.

2) Maybe this is the one percentage value already there, but it would be really cool to be able to set the "softness" of the transition. Looking at the Mask Generator, this would equate to the difference between the low and high values for the input.

BTW, if you don't mind, what are you developing the plugin with? Is it C#, some other .Net language, or just using C++?

I've been very tempted to get into writing plugins but really haven't found the time yet to learn DirectShow filters.

Thanks!

Hi Rhode,

I did mean to reply earlier but I've been a bit busy over the last few days.

To answer your queries...

1) Hmm, I'm not sure this would work well as a transition. It sounds more like a Video FX. The plugin was really a handy shortcut that some users requested. If you look at this thread http://www.sonicfoundry.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?MessageID=167243&Page=0 you will see that the same effect as this plugin, albeit more long-winded, can be achieved in Vegas anyway. Maybe you can get the effect you're after with Vegas as it stands right now?

2) Maybe. The % value in the plugin is intended to help soften the transition but I'm not that happy with it - the way I've implemented it makes keyframing that value pretty much useless.

The plugin was written in C++ using SoFo's plugin SDK. Download it and play around with the samples - the more plugin developers out there the better for every Vegas user 8o)

Cheers,

Scott
