New GPU Causing Crash ?

BoomPow wrote on 9/26/2018, 11:32 AM

I got the Vegas PRO 15 installed it worked fine with my old rig, recently i bought a GTX 1050 and VP15 cant be opened. My old GPU is AMD Radeon R7 250 Series, and now it is a GTX 1050. GPU is the only thing that's changed, didnt touch the motherboard or CPU.

Double clicking simply opens the launcher window thing and then closes at some point, no background process in task manager, nothing.

I already tried re installing, cleaning the cache by CTRL + SHIFT and double clicking the shortcut. Still no avail.

Any fix to this ?

Did you install also the latest drivers for the GTX 1050, driverversion 411.63 ?

I would suggest to use DDU to completely remove the driver (both amd and Nvidia) then reinstall the latest Nvidia one.

@BoomPow - I’m trying to understand. Tell me, have you just swapped-out your video card on your “old rig”?

Do try this headbanging procedure.

Uninstall MAGIX Vegas Pro 15.

Reboot PC.

Uninstall any plugins for VP15.

Reboot PC.

Reboot PC again.

Reinstall VP15.

Reboot PC.

Reboot PC again.

Without adding ANY plugins, does VP15 start up?

If that didn’t work, need to start looking deeper and again the GPU Drivers. Also track down Nick’s solution for non-starting VP.

Very frustrating indeed.

I'm having the same problem. I had to disable GPU rendering, because for a month now Vegas always crashes 30-40% of the way into rendering. I've clean installed all the drivers for the GTX 1050 Ti, and updated Vegas to its most recent build, but its still crashing. Very infuriating.

Ah, by the way (don't want to hijack the thread but) disabling the GPU rendering in the Preferences will not prevent one to export with NVENC hardware encoding, right..?

I think it does. For me if I don't have the Intel GPU selected and try to render QSV it just crashes. I would select Mainconcept not NVENC if you want a CPU-only export.

I"M using the intel GPU for video processing to try and fix a vegas crashing problem (still crashes) & the NVENC options are still available & render normally.

@BoomPow This is the troubleshooting post that Grazie referred to: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-vegas-pro-won-t-start-what-can-i-do--104784/

If you reinstall Vegas, as per #19 on that post, be sure to do a clean uninstall according to these instructions: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-can-i-do-a-clean-uninstall-of-vegas-pro--111205/
