New Install of SVM 17, Rendering Locks up?

Roger-Molina wrote on 1/3/2021, 12:16 PM

Just upgraded (download) to 17 (204) from 11 in Win10. First video, assembled. 55 mins long, 4.5GB, Stereo, One track of Video, several small text overlays, auto fade. 1st attempts (3x) resulted in "Unknown error, render cancelled". Next 2 attempts resulted in locked up render time line at 99%. What settings do I look at to try another route?

I don't think you converted the files the right way.
Those kind of files i don't use since 2003 so I can't check.
For more help I think we need on a cloudservice from where we can download it as it is, a short original and converted file from that original Mpeg1

Also as j-v originally asked "- Rendertarget and rendertemplate with codec?"

Former user wrote on 1/3/2021, 9:25 PM

This was either captured or rendered as a VCD video which was video on a CD. At the time it was the only alternative to a DVD before DVDs became burnable. Shouldn't affect render though.

EricLNZ wrote on 1/4/2021, 2:43 AM

But what render template is being used? The only NTSC VCD 352x240 template appears to be QT7.

Roger-Molina wrote on 1/5/2021, 10:57 AM

As this is the first project on both this new CPU as well as new SW I anticipated some teething issues. I am ordering a Video Capture Card compatible with S connection and Composite, and ditching the USB dongle used in the current capture. That will take a middle step out of the process and will capture directly through VM. One question though! In looking at the "Add Media Button", it only talks about DV formats. Will it seamlessly capture Sony 8mm tape video (analog) played back on a Sony DCR-TRV310 Handycam? This camera can playback both analog and digital tapes, so not sure how capture will be performed on analog if that is how its transferred or does the camera convert to digital output?.
