@lan-mLMC Ah I see, just watched it again & he switches the Composite - Looks over so fast I didn't notice, even screen grabbing it I didn't notice, Thanks 👍😁 Still a bit too early for me 🥱😂

I do that with Pan/Crop sometimes, don't think I've ever done it with the Track - Composite

@Gid Hey, that's a feature that Vegas has had for a long time (maybe Vegas 6.0). The adjustment track feature of Vegas 19 was introduced after a slight modification on that basis.

Thanks for that tip on adding the adjustment track. I knew about it but this will remind me to take advantage of it.

I almost forgot, you also use a 3D space/parallax in this scene.  It's cool!

In addition, I saw the manual method you showed in the tutorial to smooth the keyframes. If the third-party tool is allowed to be mentioned, you can try this tool https://github.com/RatinFX/VegasProFlow , which can create smooth interpolation in almost all video keyframes of Vegas, including event FX, Track FX, Track Motion (even parent track motion), envelope and so on. And it's frame by frame, which is smoother than the method you showed. @John-Ivar

@lan-mLMC that's correct! Thank you.

There's no restrictions on what tools I can show and not (at least not that I'm aware of). But I do want to make a point out of showing what can be done in the base VEGAS Pro package with its native tools. With some ingenuity, there's almost no limits to what can be done. I find that a lot of fun, and I think it's a good message to spread around about VEGAS. It's a powerful, affordable package filled with handy tools that can be used on a professional level.

VegasProFlow is really good though!

@John-Ivar I'm not able to copy/paste the keyframes in pan/crop tool as you show at about 04.15. Do you press a key while dragging the keyframe?

@3POINT It should be Ctrl. A very handy little trick that works on keyframes and events.

@zzzzzz9125 I know about CTRL while dragging a keyframe/event to copy the keyframe/event to another position, but that's not what @John-Ivar shows. Take a look at the video from position 04:00 till 04:20 (for better understanding slow down the instruction video at least to 0.5 speed).

@3POINT Hi.

  • He creates the two initial keyframes,
  • He moves the cursor back two frames so it is between the two initial keyframes using the arrow keys on the keyboard,
  • Pressing Insert on the keyboard puts a keyframe where the cursor is,
  • He moves the right keyframe to the right two frames, the cursor repositions to where that keyframe was when that keyframe was clicked on to move it but the cursor then doesn't move when he moves the keyframe,
  • Pressing Insert on the keyboard puts a keyframe where the cursor is,

I just watched the video carefully, and now I'm wondering. Is there a keyboard shortcut that allows him to create keyframes directly? (Just see 4:13. Without clicking the button or double-clicking on the timeline, he could create a new keyframe.) He seems to have moved a keyframe backward, and then created a new keyframe at the cursor. I didn't find such a shortcut in the help manual. How did he do that?

@Gid Thank you for your clarification. I didn't know Insert could do that!

@zzzzzz9125 👍 It's hard to put into words, basically

  • click & drag the right keyframe,
  • click Insert on the keyboard,
  • click & drag the right keyframe,
  • click Insert on the keyboard,
  • & so on 👍

Sorry for being unclear. @Gid you explained it perfectly. The insert key is indeed the 'key' to this technique. 😁

3POINT wrote on 5/29/2024, 11:02 AM

First have to find Insert key on my German Keyboard...seems to be Einfg key.. have to test this further..never too old to learn...even after using Vegas for almost 2 decades....😁
