new update 765

Yep, I can confirm that 765 was pulled after QA verified the MainConcept GPU render issues reported in this thread. Adding support for LPCM audio in the CPU code (as opposed to AAC) accidentally left the GPU code without any audio codec selected so it bailed out. The jump back to frame 0 that some of you saw was Vegas trying to recover in CPU mode, but still without any audio codec selected.

The fix looks simple (auto-select AAC for the GPU modes) so I predict a new update soon but please don't hold me to that because it's not my call!

On a higher level, I want you all to know that reporting problems in the forums does make a difference. Thanks.

I love Vegas Pro, if it was a lady then I would marry it.
I am gonna wait a while before I do the update though.

I'm on a consulting job this month so I'm waiting until all the dust settles before I install anything, but I just wanted to say . . .

. . . thank you ChrisDolan, and all the rest of the SCS Team behind the curtain. Having you on the Forum inspires confidence and lets us know things are moving ahead as a whole.

And SCS users, let us not forget that Chris and the rest of the team are real people, just like we are. They have spouses, parents, kids, pets, mortgages, etc. It's easy to slam the Nameless, Faceless Giant. It's quite another to slam a collaborative partner and friend : )

All the best,

Kimberly

+1 for chris coming up front and centre stage. well done!

however, it does beg the question as to exactly what degree of testing updates go through prior to release.

i fully realise that scs is a small, hard working team trying to do an awful lot to keep us happy and content, but i for one would be happy waiting that little bit longer for bug free updates - still smarting from the image sequence catastrophe .-(

Just another kudos for Chris and the team. As a retired Software/Hardware design engineer, I can "feel their pain". Rocket science? No. That's easier....

...ahhh, the stories we could tell about marketing vs engineering....it's all good.

Keep the faith!

....and thanks!

Oh, I have the problem with export MP4 MainConcept via GPU as well. Broken audio or Low memory error - even If I have large memory available.

So wierd, that previous version was without problem. So blame myself for update :(.

I need the output in MainConcept MP4 as soon as possible. When will be available fix for that?

Build 770 is out. The only difference between 765 and 770 is the MainConcept AVC/AAC GPU rendering bug reported in this thread.
Arthur.S wrote on 11/22/2013, 3:47 PM
So, do you mean 770 has fixed that bug Chris?

Arthur S., no that's a different issue. Certain GPUs are simply not supported by MainConcept's acceleration. I don't have any real insight into which ones and why except anecdotal reports, but I can say that in Vegas' own GPU support we had to add some special cases for the new AMD GPUs because, for example, AMD changed they way they report card version numbers so trying to decide whether a card is "new enough" became more complicated. I'm not saying that's what's going inside the MainConcept DLLs but my guess it that it's likely something like that. Sorry I can't give you a more informed answer...
