NO m2t load

greg wrote on 6/14/2017, 8:29 PM

Just installed Movie Studio 14 and got ready to start editing. Have used Vegas and a couple of other programs in the past so am not a nub. First video clip I tried to load from a directory (m2t file copied directly from my Sony camcorder) and the program crashed! NO START and did get the chance to send the report. What is the workaround or patch to make this work????

I have a Sony HDD camcorder and I always import clips from it to my PC using PlayMemories Home. I'm using VMS14 and haven't had any trouble loading m2ts files imported this way. Maybe this will work for you.

Thanks for the reply. I am not using a smart phone and my camcorder is the Sony HDR-TD10. It shoots in 1080 standard and 3D, but does not have WiFi. It has a standard SD card that then moves to my laptop. Old School.

VMS 14 comes with a sample project. Does the install work fine with that project? Does the program crash when you try to load in other files? It will be important to understand if it is crashing when trying to read specific files or if the installation didn't go well.

Markk,

I did not try the sample project as I have been editing (with Sony & Serif) for some years now. I have loaded in other files (mp4) with no problem or crash. I did edit them and render a new video. I have also loaded an MPG file and that works. BUT, when I click add media, then as soon as I click on an m2t file I get the crash & sent the report.

Are there other m2t files (from the same camera) that work/don't crash?

greg wrote on 6/16/2017, 8:57 AM

No. I just did a test. I took a 7 second video from the camera. I transferred the file from the SD card to the computer. When I tried to "add media" it instantly gave me an error. The message was, "The file C:\Users\Greg\Desktop\Temp\00052.MTS could not be opened.  The file contains an unsupported number of channels (6)."

The other file from the camera gave an error code I could not copy and as soon as I try the program crashes. I did clip a screen shot and attached it.......

Try updating to the latest build (122). The multi-channel bug was fixed in the latest update. Do a search on the forum to find the direct links if it doesn't show up in your 'news'.

Thanks Nick - that makes it easy!

Did this work? I have used MovieStudio since MS10. I use a Sony camcorder. Currently using Sony HVR Z7U, format is AVCHD. When I attempt to add media, MS14 crashes. I can add the same media in 13 - no issues.

@dub-dizl - Which build of VMS 14 are you using?

dub-dizl wrote on 8/16/2017, 7:54 PM

Version 14 Build 105

Markk655 wrote on 8/16/2017, 8:17 PM

@dub-dizl In that case, try to download the latest build and see if that solves your problems.

I am not the OP but I had exactly the same issue with exactly the same camera (TD10E) m2ts files, with exactly the same built (105). Upgrading to the built 148 fixed the issue.

On indirectly related subject but to help me vent off a bit, the current installer sucks in a big style. 24h downloading with the bloody thing stopping every hour or so and waiting to press "continue" button. Congratulation Mr and Mrs Magix, good job.

Yes, upgrading the build did work for me. Thanx Markk655

Great to hear that it worked for both of you!
