There is no single cause or solution. @Serbu-FlaviuGeorge Please make a new post describing your situation including hardware and media type.

BakerRunner wrote on 2/18/2024, 4:57 PM

Roger I couldn't agree more. I've been using Vegas from when it was Sony Vegas around 2012 to just last week when I upgraded from Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 16 to Vegas Pro 365. I couldn't believe it when 365 froze up, and it just did it again. I've used multiple versions over the years and various different computers with different configurations and every single setup, this program has frozen up periodically. You'd think it would have been address at the development level by now.

Reyfox wrote on 2/22/2024, 8:03 AM

@BakerRunner I have not experienced Vegas freezing up. I have Vegas Post 365 and edit for long periods of time without any problems.

So..... if you want to see if there is a solution to your problem, start your own thread with the specific information needed from this POST, "B" and "C". Generalizations just don't work in trying to get to the possible solution to make Vegas better.

BakerRunner wrote on 2/23/2024, 9:06 AM

I made a new post yesterday and have gotten zero replies. Vegas locked up on me twice yesterday and already once this morning.

Reyfox wrote on 2/23/2024, 9:29 AM

@BakerRunner really? I just looked at your post and you have two replies. One from VEGASDerek who is involved in the programming of the software.

Questions were asked that you have to answer to move forward. You have to understand, everyone isn't in your time zone....

You failed to answer "B" and "C" from the POST link in my post....

Yes really. They literally just responded after I posted above. My post above was 10:06 and VegasDerek posted a 10:10, then the next post was 10:23. There's really no sense in my posting an answer to your B and C question here, since I have a new thread.

BakerRunner wrote on 2/23/2024, 9:55 AM

I would also like to point out like the OP, I have been using Vegas since it was Sony Vegas, back in 2012 I think, I have used Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 16 and now Vegas Pro 21 and every single version of this program on various computers and versions of windows have all exhibited this same issue with freezing. No other application that I use regularly freezes up as much as the Vegas products do, and in the past I've never gotten a satisfactory solution. So I understand his frustration.

Reyfox wrote on 2/23/2024, 11:24 AM

@BakerRunner but you didn't include that information in your post, "B" and "C" when I read it.

I will never dispute anyone's personal experience with any product. But your complaints are vague. If I had been using a product as long as you say you have, I would have moved on a long time ago.

But my personal experience with Vegas is different. It has allowed me to edit hours without any freezing. None. That is why it's important for anyone to provide the necessary information ("B" and "C") when they do post. It might be a "me" issue, or a "global" issue that affects everyone. Without that information, no one knows.

Did you visit my post, I thought I provided all the information. I don't see the point of hijacking this post with my information, I was just trying to support the OP's experience. Also, I have tried just about every free and paid editing suite there is, and aside from Premiere which I didn't want to pay monthly for (yet, ironically I am now paying monthly for Vegas) nothing is as easy to use as Vegas, and I have only recently started using it daily. I run a couple YouTube channels and post content almost daily. I tried Davinci and the preview window lags so much it's almost unusable. I was using Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 16, but also had a terrible time with video preview lag. Then upgraded to Magix Movie Studio only to discover that Vegas and Magix forked, and Magix, although a decent product, doesn't function the same as Vegas and isn't as easy to use. So I did the trail of Vegas Pro and was impressed with the speed and ease of use, so I pulled the trigger on the Pro version with the 365 subscription, only to find out that the issue I experienced with it freezing up over the years is back. Back in 2012 I used Sony Vegas to edit a few music videos, so once the project was done, I didn't use it again until I got Platinum 16 back in 2018 I think. Again for a music video, I had the problem of freezing up, but managed to get the project done and didn't really use it much until a couple years ago when I started the YouTube channel. Version 16 Platinum seemed to work fine, I was only editing 5 to 10 minute videos, but now I'm working on longer YouTube tutorials. It's just very frustrating to sign up for a one year subscription to something and have it fail to perform. So now I'm stuck with it for a year. Not to mention, no other software I use has this issue. I use Reaper and Studio One for audio and it never crashes, ever. I've used Adobe products, photo editing, games, 3D design software, CNC machine software, Open Office, etc. etc. and nothing performs as poorly as Vegas does.

Reyfox wrote on 2/23/2024, 12:25 PM

@BakerRunner you just provided that information about the videos. That wasn't a part of your initial post where that information should have been given. You also failed to include information from "C", like what is your CPU, RAM, etc.. You also list for Intel graphics as 360. That must be a typo.

Go back and read all my posts again, everything is there, CPU, RAM, etc. If you read the post, it says that I started out with GPU acceleration set to NVidia Quadro P1000 and changed it to the built in Intel HD 360 to see if that would help. As for not posting all the necessary details at first, this is my first time posting to the forum. I know you're just trying to help, but you come across as argumentative and not very helpful at all.

The new comment above made me remember this thread. I just wanted to say that since Vegas Pro 22 (I'm running the latest version) I haven't had any issues with the software freezing or crashing. It's been totally solid and my main editor. I was signed up for 365, but I'm switching to the Vegas Pro 22 perpetual license and I will stay there. My computer is not eligible for the Windows 11 update so my studio computer will thus remain on Windows 10 and Vegas Pro 22 indefinitely. Thanks to all who helped out.
