If you want a software solution that responds to no matter what PC configurations you locate it at, while you disregard the plethora of kinds of media or footage you may use, or you not specify the hardware that generates it, let alone mentioning the configuration, processes or effects you want to apply to it all, or the codecs you want to render into. And all that, probably changing numerous times since 2008.... Then you are looking for a miracle of science, not a piece of software.
Otherwise, define your situation and usage case and describe it here (following the detailed instructions at the pinned thread about how to ask for help) and you will get usually very good responses from fellow users (or distant, but knowledgeable ones) in this very same forum. Welcome.
The issue in 2008 may have the same symptoms as in 2024 but the underlying program has changed quite a lot so as Cielspacing wrote we need more info. What's the hardware and what's the media is where I would start.
To further narrow down the issue you could enable "hang detection" in internal preferences- hold down shift, go to the options menu, find "internal" at bottom and then type in hang. Change false to true and VEGAS will give you the ability to terminate the program and potentially generate a problem report with a clue as to the cause.
You're absolutely right, and I completely agree with your point. The thing is, my situation doesn't involve a clear, identifiable cause for the issue. If there was something obvious like a specific configuration, media type, or effect causing the problem, I’d have mentioned it or asked about it here.
What’s driving me crazy is that the software just freezes at random, with no clear trigger. It won’t respond, and I can’t even close it normally unless I use a special shortcut I downloaded called "killallvegas." I feel like this version of Vegas 22 is more complicated and unstable compared to previous versions, which didn’t freeze or lag as much. I believe the software itself could use more work to improve its stability.
If you have any advice or ideas about what might be causing this or how to avoid these random freezes, I’d love to hear it. Thanks for your input!
Thank you for the tip about enabling "hang detection". I really appreciate it, and I’ll definitely check that out to see if it helps pinpoint the issue or at least generate a useful problem report.
Thanks again for your help and suggestions! I'll report back if I find anything useful.
You have not even told us, which Vegas version you use. Nore, at which operations you do Vegas freezes. Nothing.
For me, for example, those complete freezes has become quite uncommon. With the actual latest build of Vegas Pro 22, and the hardware you can read in my signiture.
Not sure if anyone can tell you a miracle. I cant.
