Nvidia vs Radeon

I am planning to build a new pc, and I have to decide between the GTX 1050 Ti and the RX 570, since it’s what I can afford within my budget.

I am aware that Vegas takes advantage of CUDA cores, and using it makes rendering faster.

But the RX 570 has better performance comapred to the GTX 1050 Ti, even though it has the same price.

I don’t play games, so games won’t matter.

So, which should I go with? Radeon or Nvidia?

P.S. I am also aware VRAM affects rendering speeds. Is this correct?

It doesn't, unless you have an old GTX 400-500 series card and reveal the legacy MainConcept AVC/AAC encoder in the Vegas internal preferences.

Hardware rendering these days is via NVENC (NVIDIA), VCE (AMD) or QSV (Intel).

Radeon.

A lot of the more vocal Vegas forum guru's and long time users are in favor of Radeon due to the more favorable hardware acceleration in the past by Radeon cards in the times of Sony. But more recently Nvidea got Vegas support implemented sooner than Radeon since Magix took over from Sony. And I do not have a kristal ball, but I do not think personally this will change. Vegas is never going to admit it to favorize one or the other, they do not want to alienate one or the other camp. It may be a good idea to look to other NLE's in what hardware they prefer to see where the NLE industry is going in general regarding hardware acceleration. See this article : http://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Premiere-Pro-CC-2018-NVIDIA-GeForce-vs-AMD-Radeon-Vega-1206/

A company is also more likely to invest in software support of the most used (sold) hardware. And maybe Nvidea has the upper hand there.

My advice is Nvidea.

@BruceUSA has posted favorable reports. Not sure if he's running VP16 or still VP15.

Omg I just downloaded 16 and it is very laggy and unresponsive on my system. Mind you Vegas Pro 14 works pretty well on my Ryzen 1800x with 64 gigs of ram and Radeon Frontier Vega Edition GPU! What could be the issue? To think I was just going to purchase the update smfh.

I am using VP15/16. I find VP16 performance in GPU Accel is the same as VP15. I ran some tests and got the exact results.
