Only some audio waveforms missing while also displaying for same file

After using Vegas Pro 20 for 6 months this problem has just surfaced. I have been using Vegas since it had a Sony badge. First time imposing on this forum. :)

I have cut multiple clips from the base file and only some of the clips have failed to display the waveforms.
New camera (for me) Sony FDR AX-53 (but also happening with files from 2 year old Gopro 9). The other camera in the job is a Pixel phone (4A 5G) which is also over 2 years old and often used as my 3rd or 4th camera without issues.

It may have started after I created video proxy files for the 2 4k machines and the 1080P phone (which overheats and shuts down if recording 4k)

I have tried without success:
 - rebooting
 - rebuild audio peaks
 - Changed internal option "Build peaks for visible only" to TRUE and reboot
 - shift-up to increase vertical scale of waveform

I hope I don't have to start from scratch - hoping for practical workarounds.

This is the first time I've used files longer than 90 minutes.

Am I missing something really dumb?

Screenshot shows this happening across the board: (edited to upload screenshot for inline viewing)

Welcome to the forum.

If waveforms aren't being created for media newly imported onto the timeline, it might be that waveform creation has inadvertantly been turned off in the View menu.

If this is not the issue, try checking the large Wave files options in Options/Preferences/General to see if these options change things - I really don't know if they will but its worth trying IMO.

Thanks Dexcon, I checked.
Audio Event Waveforms is still ticked.
Large Wave files options were blank, are now ticked.
Saved incrementally, closed Vegas. Opened the newly saved version.

OH NO. It's User Error!

I'll just leave this here to show that the obvious isn't always, you know, obvious. Oh dear.
