Writing a commercial for a local sandblaster, and waiting to hear back on a low budget "infomercial" aimed at community access. Also just met with the only wedding magazine in town to set up an advertisement to get into weddings.

I'm editing some footage that I shot for a Glamour/Nude website featuring Playboy & Penthouse models. I've been a still shooter for well over 15 years and I shoot still photographs for this website (and many others) as well as video. I've only recently begun to edit my own video - which is proving to be a lot of fun. After shooting still images for so long...it's really interesting taking my knowledge of color, composition and design and trying to make all that work within the realm of video. And then....learning to edit my own footage - it's just so much fun!

If any of you want to see a few small clips, hit me up! I'll send you a link to a couple of recent shoots. Be aware however...these are vids of gorgeous nude Playboy & Penthouse Models :)

PS: I don't want to post the links here for obvious reasons....you never know who you'll offend! So contact me for those links if your interested. You can contact me thru the Sony system.

Ahem...

On a more conventional note, I just shot a local very good choir singing the "Star Spangled Banner" at the beginning of a Portland (Oregon) Trailblazers game tonight. Did it in 4-channel surround sound, and am about to look at the footage for the first time. Lousy team, but great theatrical effects, and the kids sounded great--all 120 of them ranging in ages from 6 to 18. Game was televised (I came home afterwards and watched the second half on TV) but I don't know if they showed the intro--probably went to commercial.

For just over a week I have been documenting the flood in Endwell, NY. Last Sunday (4-3-05) water reached a height of 29.14 feet (flood stage is 18 feet). My home built in the 50s has never had anything but a little water in the basement but this time the water rose to within 8 inches of my first floor. This weeked cleanup continues. We are living at the home of friends as the house is not livable.

I've been there Bob G - we had a HUGE flood in '97 here in Fargo and Grandforks. Almost destroyed GF - buildings burned down with no way of stopping it etc... and the entire city flooded. Here in Fargo - we were able to stop it but it was a week + of sandbaging for 10 plus hours a day at several key areas. I'm sure if you google it - you'd find some things left still from it. It can be crazy - Hear's hoping that you get back to normal as soon as you can. There was lot's of boating in the streets then, I hope it's not that bad where you are.

ok . . . . don't know if this counts as "interesting" . .knowing how YOU spend your time behind the camera . . I can't get near that kind of interest! . . However, this is me . . ..

1/- Building on my existing scoping project for my business [ ongoing ]

2/- Laying some sound tracks down from ACID. I need to get an idea out before it "flies-away"!

3/- Filming - Looks like good weather to capture early/mid Spring flowering. Using this to show an organisation I have in mind! Using my matte box and filters to improve iris settings.

4/- DVD - Preparing my DVD-CV of the last 4 months of work to show AV colleagues who want me to film and edit.

5/- Prepare "cut-down" of last paid-for project for client to view.

. . if I get 50 % of what I want to do in all 5, then it will be a good weekend . . . No. 3 will definitely happen! Weather is looking excellent!

Blue skies over London - at present!

This is one of the best threads in a long time. What are you doing this weekend? Oh, taking pictures of Playboy bunnies -- you know, the usual. Me, oh, I'm doing a sandblasting commercial. My friend, well, you know, he's got water up to the second floor, and he's taping all the death and destruction.

Talk about extremes!

Me? I'm capturing the entire Masters golf tournament for my next-door neighbor who is actually attending the event. 3.5 hours/DVD on four DVDs. Also, I'm finishing the post-production of a one hour high-school variety show, and putting that on DVD. And tonight, I film a fashion show.

From the Reality Bites department....

I'm working on a wedding that was shot months ago with two cams - cam 1 had a great point of view and great footage, but was a 1-chipper that suffered drastically due to the avaiable lighting. Cam 2 was a sony VX2000 wherein the picture quality was outstanding but....well....the cam operator (yep, my wife) adjusted it constantly on the non-fluid head tripod. Extremely jerky footage, coupled with zooms galore.

dmcknight -
a suggestion - you might like to either slo-mo or use a collage of freeze frames from the technically good, but jerky-zoomy footage.
Don't give up the fight, yet.

Going to film more technical footage on a 75 foot yacht. Then going sailing, with a Rum chaser.
See ya tomorrow.

I´m on vacation and deliberately painted myself into a creative corner by NOT bringing a camcorder with me.

Instead all shooting, still and video, will be done using a modest Canon 4MP digital camera that also shoots video at (I think) 15 fps.

I goofed with this a little prior to vacation just to see what happened. First effort is posted on my website, for laughs.

From time to time I like to see what I can get by with when limited to the bare essentials. There's a ton of beautiful stuff to see and shoot here. The trick in this situation, I think, will be to keep the limitations of the equipment well in mind when shooting, and in post.

I have no doubt Vegas is capable of tweaking the footage and making it look a lot better.

Working as a hired gun to shoot a business presentation competition at the University business school.

I'm still working on subtitling some of my previous docs so I can release a multi-language DVD. (Oh, for the budget to hire a transcriber!)

Is Monday still the weekend? Things get more interesting then: my buddy and I are starting work on our next documentary. We're taping the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources' press conference where they try explain to the public why a hunting season on feral cats is a good idea. There's also a move in the state legislature to lower the hunting age down to 10, and abolish all gun safety requirements. So, the day 10-year olds can legally shoot cats, we'll be ready with cameras to record this historic moment in human progress.

Editing a pretty basic live music vid, nothing ambitious but have liked this kid for awhile so happy to be working with him.

Other than that trying to raise money for my first fully independent feature, and hopefully getting some footage for that tomorrow night.

And lastly, cleaning out my hard drives to make room for an editing gig.

Doing the edit on a 3 camera wedding shoot; teaching the spousal unit some things about Vegas.

Might be meeting with a bride to be later today regarding a possible shoot.

Storyboarding a commercial for a local pet store: "Parker's Most Wanted: Puppies"

Getting ready for a big snowstorm moving into the Metro Denver area.

I should be capturing some 8mm film, but might wait until Monday.

Pulling together tax info.

I'm contacting a girl who's designing a custom made model database template for me to keep track of the models I'm working with.

Organizing a shoot (hopefully) for the evening of the 19th. Got one model, need one more. My friend is lending me his XL-1 for that as well. Should get some good footage for The Project.

Talks also with my site designer for the NEW SITE !!! and e-commerce end of it. Way too much work but hopefully worth it in the long end.

And sending out emails to further prospective models.

Hopefully off to the pub later...if that happens I'll raise a glass to ya'all...

Try Dynapel MotionPerfect to convert to 30 fps. The results can be absolutely amazing. They have a demo download at their site (www.dynapel.com).
